Online coffee beans suggestions?

I’ll give it a shot, I almost never buy the same beans twice, except when there’s a Metropolis (a local Chicago place) sale at Whole Foods

The Just Coffee WTF roast is quite good!

Timely thread. A coworker of mine orders coffee online from a place called Gold Star Coffee and out of curiosity I bought a bag of “Jamaica Blue Mountain” from him. I am suspicious of this coffee because I don’t think it can be the real thing at the price he said he was getting it for. Taste-wise it doesn’t knock my socks off either. Has anyone here run into this stuff before? There is just something about it that screams knockoff.

I just acquired a Clever Dripper—it’s what one of my local coffee shops uses. It’s very easy to use! And I prefer the filtered coffee over the cafetière à piston/French press.

Hi! Maybe late to the party on this topic, but I am a big fan of Peace Coffee. They also do subscriptions:

Peruse at your interest. : )

I’ve had good experiences with Gevalia . They have ground coffee or beans.

I’ve enjoyed every form of Katz’s coffee I’ve had. Though, I buy it at the store instead of online.

Not a coffee drinker myself, but I have to plug my friend: Firefly Valley Farms

Gevalia is an old, large, industrial roaster. It’s the largest coffee producer in the Nordic region. It isn’t what I’d call an artisanal coffee producer. They’re competing with Starbucks, Keurig, and Nescafe, not Stumptown.

It is a name I haven’t heard in a while though. I recall the Gevalia commercials on TV when I was a kid.

Run by lovely people.

Cafe Britt. Grown, roasted and packaged in Costa Rica. Ships from a warehouse in Miami. The Tarrazu is brilliant! Plus, free shipping in the ConUS.

We’ve ordered cases of the stuff in addition to the snacks and haven’t been disappointed yet!

Any recent adventures with locally roasted coffee?

We actually have a local roaster now and the coffee is very tasty!

I taught with one of the brothers for years. Good stuff, good cause.

I just ordered some stuff from Square Mile Roasters in London – https://shop.squaremilecoffee.com/

It’s the roastery that YouTuber James Hoffmann is owner of.

Pretty good stuff. I got a nice little mug too. Strange how small it is. I had to reduce my cup size from 12 ounces to 8 and a half ounces. I guess Europeans drink smaller beverages.

I have been drinking Raven’s Brew coffees for many years, always excellent. My favorites are Deadman’s Reach and Three Peckered Billy Goat. I buy whole beans and grind them myself.

If you want to try your hand at roasting your own, here’s a resource for both instructions and green beans

Alas, i don’t drink enough coffee to make this make sense. I may try it anyway, just for kicks.

I hope there are folks here still grinding and brewing at home.

I just discovered this place: Rare Bird – https://www.rarebirdcoffee.com/

I’m sitting right now with a fresh cup of the La Sierra (Honduras). It’s very clean and fruity. I prefer light, fruity roasts, so this is right up my alley.

Although, my favorite roast recently has been Counter Culture’s Hologram – wow, so much flavor. This is the coffee that turned my brother from a coffee skeptic (it’s a bitter, ashy drink that you need to pump with cream and sugar) into a “hey, I could enjoy a fresh cup of black coffee!” – Hologram – Counter Culture Coffee

I’m currently looking enviously at the Fellow Ode grinder – Ode ‎Brew Grinder | Free Shipping | Fellow® Official Store

It’s a hefty price though. I currently have a Bodum grinder. I’m not entirely happy with its consistency, but I’m happily drinking coffee made with it, so maybe I should put away my gadget envy – Bodum
