I’m going back to Las Vegas next month and I’d like to memorize the basic strategy for blackjack. Are there any free websites or freeware downloads that I can use to play a lot of hands with so I can nail basic strategy cold? I’m tired of using a strategy card.
The best I found is the 99 cent app for the iphone, oddly named “BJ trainer”. It lets you practice basic strategy in “hard” mode which will more often give you those difficult situations like splits, double downs and close calls so that you don’t waste your time on the obvious hands. An hour or three on the plane and you should have basic strategy down.
Also, you can download Blackjack International (Windows) (Mac) or try the Wizard’s free Java game. That website also has basic strategy tables for a number of common rules, and a ton of appendixes for other rule changes.
hitorstand.net is a blackjack strategy tutor. it’s very cool. You play a game of 20 hands at a time. The object of the game isn’t to win electro-bucks, but rather to play the deal correctly and you’re scored accordingly.
