No timeouts, right? :dubious:
Having read this thread, I started to keep track of how many timeouts I got on this website today. There was the 20-minute one in the 11 AM hour, and four more before I left the house. Then there were 8 at work. There may have been more, but eight of the times I checked, there was no board. And there have been six since I returned home, starting at 9:20 for nearly 15 minutes, and four since. I’m on cable at home and a T-1 at work. It’s pretty safe to say that it’s not on this end.
And the one at 9:47 that prevented this post from going through. The board is going tits up tonight, I can just tell.
As a lurker, I’ve experienced the same. I’m telling you, bitches. Class fucking action lawsuit. Those same cunting lawyers can do to the Chicago Reader what they did to Netflix. Namely, put 40 million dollars into their own pockets while giving the customers some sad crumbs, like a free six-month subscription extension or some horseshit. As long as it hurts the Chicago Reader in the longrun, I don’t care. That’s the goal. Those incompetent fucks deserve it.
OK, we know that some people have timeout problems and some people don’t. Can the people who do have timeout problems please try to keep track of what time they get the timeouts (ideally use WinMTR to trace the route at the time of the timeout) and then report back here in, say, one week? Maybe we can get an idea of where things are falling apart.
I’m having timeouts, but they’re actually not that bad. It’s just fine right now, incidentally, and I’m willing to hit refresh a few times to get my fix. Actually, I’m a guest account that will disappear into the murky abyss in 30 days, so why do I really care? (And what’s The Pit for, anyway? Moaning? I thought that was what forums at large were for).
If they can get paid and not provide the agreed upon service, why can’t we just cuss in forums in other the the Pit, personally attack other posters, create multiple socks, post entire lyrics to songs, post copyrighted materials, game threads, duplicate threads, etc. Seems only fair…
…and yeah, I’m anticipating some fuckwit junior mod to come around and say “yeah, why don’t you just try it and see what happens”…boo fucking hoo, getting banned from something that doesn’t even work…pfft!
I was around here before the board went pay and then just kind of drifted off for a while (largely because it was frustrating having the board lock up every time I did something). I was pleasantly surprised when I started browsing again because I had maybe one timeout a week and response time was WAY faster than it used to be.
Not that I’m saying others’ problems don’t exist…just that I’m not experiencing anywhere near the same level of problems and I was around off and on all day yesterday from 9 a.m. until about 7 central.
