Only one sportswriter covering everything?

I just came from a restaurant where I had dinner and watched the Miami vs. Seattle playoff game. I left right after the 'Fins scored to go ahead 20-17. I get home in time to see the post-game show and hear an announcer say something about Terrell Buckley making a big play.

I go to the WWW to look up info on this “big play” and all of the sports sites have the same story from AP! Doesn’t anyone else cover the news/sports/weather? Doesn’t anyone else know how to type? It appears to be only those at AP, UPI or Reuters do. It is the same in the papers as well. Isn’t anyone employed at CBS, ABC/ESPN, NBC to write or are they just pretty boys who only read what is on the teleprompter? Hell, for sporting events you could just watch the game, bang out a story on a laptop and poof! it is on its way to the WWW.

You would think that the network providing the coverage would have an original post on their web site.

Anyway, GO 'FINS! 1st playoff road win in 28 years! (and I remember that one, too!)

Yes there is, and eventually some sort of original aritcle on the game will appear on those web sites, but in the hours immediately following the game they’ll just throw up whatever AP has written until they write their own. These folks are primarily in the TV biz after all, so updating their web pages with original writing isn’t a huge priority.
