OOTS speculation (IFCC, Linear Guild, and open spoilers)

This is probably just a grove of epileptic trees, but I don’t have anyting else to do tonight and I was wondering.

I’ve been rereading the Order of the Stick archives lately. I’ve been noticing things I missed the first time around, and things I’ve forgotten. One of them is this:

In #668 the fiends are explaining to Quarr how they’re using the Linear Guild as pawns, complete with a picture taken from one of the books. Yikyik, Hilgya, and Zz’dtri are crossed out because Yikyik was killed by Belkar, Z was taken away by the lawyers, and Hilgya was probably still in the dungeon when it blew up.

Then Z makes his suprise return at the gladiator game.

So how long did it take for Z to be released by the lawyers? When did he rejoin the Linear Guild? The fiends would have no reason to lie to Quarr about him, right? So he probably wasn’t back yet at the time? His scryball shows up in 698, so we know he was with them then.

I’m just wondering if there’s anything more to Zz-dtri Round Two than copyright jokes. The circumstances of his meeting up again with the Guild. And whether Sabine has been telling everything to the IFCC; as per the most recent strip, she’s got conflicting loyalties. I can totally see- well, a bunch of wild stuff, but I’ve got a headache at the moment and can’t think in complete sentences. Maybe I’ll come back a bit later and see if I can try to remember what I was going to say.

Hey. Are lawyers automatically considered to be pawns of Evil, knowingly or unknowningly? Would the fiends know about all their legal decisions?

I have the embarassing suspision that when I read this after my head clears up it won’t make any sense. But then maybe it will. I’m going to submit this anyway, because if I leave it till later I will forget.

Speaking of lawyers, you’ll enjoy the new strip.

Does this really need its own thread?
