I don’t know how to link directly to the post, but it starts at post #15. There’s no ugliness, just a buckeye reference then someone (very politely) objecting. I believe they are saying that using the “buckeye” elsewhere is harassing Opal, but I did not ask in that particular thread because it did not seem the place for it.

ETA: I also suggest using “buckeye” to mean any over the top sensitive reaction. As in: He went all buckeye over my wearing orange and sitting in the Alabama section at the game. Or, I mentioned some nice tits walking by and she buckeyed - what’s her damage?

What next? We can’t use Hi, Opal anymore, because the thought police will decide that we are secretly harrassing Opal, and it can only be used if our hearts are pure about Opal?

What this thread needs is a link to a recipe as requested in the original thread. I looked for a recipe with rice krispies since I think the extra crunchiness would making it seem more like you’re eating a real eyeball, I understand the lens is kind of crunchy.

I’ve only eaten fish eyes (maybe 1.5 cm in diameter) and goats eyes (maybe 3 cm?), and I did not get a crunchy sensation. In both cases, they were very rubbery, kind of like superballs (or, more appropriately, tripe) until I finally bit through them, and then they were kind of chalky. Is there some difference in the way they’re prepared? (This was on a dare, BTW, but I was up against a Vietnamese person, and as a matter of principle, she claimed she’d put anything in her mouth and call it “food”).

Good gawd! I’m not a vegetarian and even I’m grossed out by this. Although I always considered myself pretty open-minded towards new culinary experiences, I have to say I draw the line at eyeballs and such. I stand firm in the belief that some things just ought not be considered actual food and should be eaten only in the extreme circumstance of starvation of the potentially fatal variety.

Well there you have it. devilsknew was not only insulting Opal’s vegitarianism and Arizonianism, but also her Native American heritage! (which she may or may not possess) If he/she would have thought first before posting - “perhaps I shouldn’t use the term buckeye for this candy just in case Opal is a person who is not from Ohio and tends to call things by their original Native American names AND is a vegitarian” - then we wouldn’t have this mess.
