Harmonious Discord, you have GOT to be kidding me.

From this thread:

First off, using “Buckeyes” in that context doesn’t defame anyone.

Second off, if I had known that your head was so cold that you had to get a junior mod cap to keep it warm, I’d have sent you the ones I left behind in MA.

Third off, Buckeyes.
Get over yourself. Since it has been mentioned innumerable times that being a nitpicky goody-two-shoes is violative of pretty much every tenet of proper social behavior, I will point out that junior-modding makes you a whiny douche. Please save this for real life, where I don’t have to deal with you.
Or just hit the “report post” button like a good little girl.

That way, you get your way, and don’t come off like a screeching dumbass.

Unless that’s your intention.

In which case, cut it the fuck out anyway.

Junior modding is, indeed, bad.

I do tend to agree that 3. buckeye is an instance of harrasment, though. (It should be noted, however, that I’m one of Opal’s defenders, sort of, in that thread.)

So, what’s the consensus on someone telling someone else to stop Junior Modding?

I don’t think Buckeyes! is any more harrassing than the original Hi Opal! was. It certainly isn’t defaming anyone.

Because the “buckeye” thing intentionally draws her attention to a mental image she finds disgusting.

-FrL-

Harassing: only if she sees it.

Defamatory: nope.
But who gives a shit?

I couldn’t pick Opal out of a lineup and I only know her as that list chick.
But for some third party to come to her defense, all finger-wagging and snooty… come on. I know it’s the internet and its PURPOSE is time-wasting, but there HAS to be something better to do.

Well once you find out what that is, come back and let the rest of the board know. God knows most people clearly need something else to do with their time and energy.

Wow, I’m actually sort of almost involved in a pit thread. What is most amusing to me is that I only threw the 3) Buckeyes! bit in to lighten the impact of what could be interpreted as a fairly harsh post in MPSIMS. That worked well.

Fuck, and I thought I was being so clever with the beanie nudge on his junior modding. And noone appreciates it:(

(pat, pat on the little frowny blue guy)[/SIZE] There, there. I appreciated it. I thought it *was *clever, and effective in disharshening.

So you’re saying that no one can use words that conjure up a mental image that anyone else finds disgusting?

Why should she be singled out?

With a few iterations, most people won’t even know where it came from. I sure didn’t know there was an Opal behind the Hi, Opal! joke when I got here. And frankly, I didn’t care. It was just a board joke. Perhaps she can be happy that her name doesn’t get used anymore.

I think that OpalCat was a massive bitch in the Buckeyes thread, but I still think it’s obvious that saying 3. Buckeyes! outside of The Pit is basically mocking her and uncalled for.

To be fair “3. Hi Opal!” was basically mocking her too. It’s just a question of context and if the mocking reminds her of a generally positive experience, or a negative one.

Enjoy,
Steven

It’s irrelevant to me whether or not Harmonious Discord was correct in his/her admonishment. Regardless of whether or not I agree with the position HD took, it still isn’t his or her job to be telling anyone what to do. HD’s post was written almost exactly as if it was a mod’s, to the point that after I saw that he/she was only a member, I wondered if I had missed an announcement stating otherwise. I actually went to ATMB to check.

Granted, I’m clearly gullible, but, damn, it seemed exactly as if a mod had written it. If that’s not the perfect example of junior modding, I don’t know what the hell is. Why not just report the post to the mods we already have if you have a problem?

Now that I get it, I appreciate it very much (and feel foolish for being so slow). Apologies for being dimwitted.

As a kosher-keepin’ Jewish person, I hereby declare that I consider any mention of bacon anywhere on this board to be harassment.

Suck it, bitches.

That just means I get his share, right?

Frylock, forget my argument. Apparently, there’s already a new rule that Buckeyes can’t be used.

These rules are changing so fast, I can barely keep up.

I think this is just an instance of the old “Don’t be a jerk” rule.

Hey, I was just "goastse"d today. After YEARS of successfully avoiding it, I was goatsed.

Buckeye
Buckeye
Buckeye

But if anyone says goatse, I’m reportin’ em!

Ah OK, but then pretty much everything falls under that rule.

I was just arguing that it wasn’t a jerky thing to write, but apparently the rule clarifies that it is.

Sure, but the point isn’t whether she’s a bitch.

The point is whether it was Discord’s place to be the cunt.

The answer is: no, it wasn’t. The mod’s job was to be the cunt.

Hence, this Pitting.

You’re not being serious when you claim to think that’s what I’m saying.

What you describe here is not harrasment by any stretch. It has nothing relevant to do with this discussion.

Meanwhile, what we’re discussing in this thread is a group of people encouraging repetition of an act they know one particular person will find repugnant, in part because they know how this particular person will react.
