[open source/free] WYSIWIG web authoring programs

Hey all,

I’m starting a class this fall that highly suggests I get myself an editing program for the website construction that is the major project for the class. I have been suggested Kompozer and Nvu by the instructor, but I wanted some opinions on them from people who have experience with them. I’ve never used anything like this, and I have doubts as to whether spending the money on Dreamweaver or other web authoring programs would be worth it, as I’m not sure if I’ll be using the program beyond this class and maybe one or two websites.

If it needs to be freeware or at least cheap, have you looked at textpad with some of its extension packs. http://www.textpad.com

Thanks for the article, Dragwyr. It gave me a better idea of what’s out there that might work for me.
