I have a website and a Youtube channel dealing mainly with electronic, automotive and science stuff.
The videos (17 so far!) are all in my native tongue, Greek.
I have found several topics that aren’t adequately covered by other english-speaking Youtube videos. For example, there are several videos demonstrating the pipe and magnet effect, but none of them gives a proper explanation of the phenomena involved.
And since I want to expand my audience, I am thinking of making some videos in English.
But on the other hand, I don’t want to alienate my greek audience.
My options so far are the following:
- Do my videos in Greek as usual, then add English subtitles.
- Do the videos in English with Greek subtitles
- Do two separate versions of the same video (that’s way too much work and I want to avoid that)
Is option 1 viable? They say that native english speaking people have an aversion to subtitles.
Any other ideas?
