Opinions on marathons

Of the TV variety.

Occasionally, and especially around holidays, various cable stations will air marathons of some program.

Today, for example, is another Twilight Zone marathon on SCI-FI.

I don’t know how long today’s is, but let’s just say 12 hours.

That’s time for 24 episodes.

However, that’s 24 episodes that have had possibly 4 minutes trimmed from the original series (to allow for more commercial time).

Adding the four minutes back in would mean time for 22 episodes in a 12-hour period instead of 24.

Personally, I would prefer watching 22 unedited episodes that the 24 edited.

Anyone else???

(I selected TZ because it’s one of my favorites, but the same would apply to any marathon of any (especially older) program that has had footage edited out for time constraints.)

Actually, that would be about 19 episodes in a 12-hour period, not 22.

I like those marathons. You can see those episodes that you missed. And there are some some (The Prisoner for one) for which each episode must be seen in order in one sitting to appreciate the masterpeice in storytelling. TV has advantages in that regard with the storytelling by episode content.
