Opinions on Meidas Touch Youtube reports

Several folk have linked to Meidas Touch Youtube vids in the threads concerning Trump and his litigation. I wondered what everyone thought the presenters and their material.

Boy, do these guys have day jobs? Hard to imagine they have time to do much of anything else.

I would like to like the reports more, but they are generally too long and too poorly organized. Likely a result of trying to post a ton of material. And they often seem almost alarmist - claiming HUGE implications from relatively minor developments.

But I was wondering how the rest of you felt about these.

I was thinking the same thing just yesterday. I do watch their videos, but rarely do I watch more than the first half. They’re typically giving hot takes and haven’t really taken the time to analyze things too deeply. I prefer Legal Eagle but he takes his time posting videos.

It is very much possible to support yourself by making and posting videos on YouTube. Some of them have even discussed how they achieves that level of popularity (you have to have a certain amount of subscribers/Patreons/clicks/etc.) and why they gave up their “day job” to do YouTube full time.

Not that familiar with Medias Touch (although I have heard of them and watched their content before) but in fact churning out those videos might be their “day job”.

Yes. It’s called Meidas Touch.

It’s definitely not my cup of tea, I have to weed them out of my recommendations from time-to-time because the algorithm thinks I’d want to watch them, but a good rule of thumb for YouTube/Twitch/whatever creators is if they are turning out that much content it is their day job, and there can be a lot of money in it. It’s tantamount to asking what Rush Limbaugh’s day job was.

The Meidas Touch folks have a Patreon site (as you noted), collecting tens of thousands (at least) of donations every month. Meidas Touch also sells merchandise. They’ve got 2.3 million subscribers and 3.3 billion views in the 14 years the YouTube channel’s been up. No doubt about it – this is their 24/7 job.

From what the 2 most frequent commentators (Meisels and Prokop?) said, I had the impression they were practicing attorneys. My bad.

Is that the channel where the guy says “But before we unpack all that” after giving an overview?

Clickbaity, and the information:length ratio of their videos is waaaaay off. There’ll be a title like “TRUMP GETS ABSOLUTELY WRECKED IN COURT!!!1!” and it’s 25 minutes about one terse exchange. Just not worth the time.

Lotta profit in preaching to the choir.

I like Legal Eagle to, but I can’t watch it while he’s talking. I have to just listen. He has no idea at all what to do with his hands and consstantly waves them around when he speaks. It’s far too distracting. But the content of his speech is gold.

This is a valid criticism and the reason why I usually don’t watch more than half of any given video. I’ve also taken to skipping videos because I know they’re going to talk about one relatively minor thing or something they’ve already covered in another video.

MTN is way too optimistic. Sees the world through blue colored glasses that gives hope that doesn’t line up with the reality that Trump is still pretty much getting away with his evil acts.

I much prefer Crooked Media-they’re much more sober and reflective about political stuff and have interesting guests on their various podcasts and YouTube videos. Also they actually have White House experience.

Hopefully we’ll see the Lincoln Project get back into the fray soon - I really enjoyed a lot of their stuff in the past.

Oh, they’re still viciously at it. They have their own youtube channel.

It seems like the Lincoln Project’s star had fallen after their efforts to advertise directly against Trump were reported to have had little effect on 2020 voting outcomes.

Although looking at the headline … failing to turn battleground Republicans into Biden voters was kind of a tall order.

Yabbut Rush Limbaugh is dead.

Yes that perfectly encapsulates why I’ve never made it through one of their videos. I’ve watched many Legal Eagle videos.

Not sure why Meidas comes up so regularly on my Youtube page as opposed to the others I (pretty infrequently) watch. Quite some time ago I realized their content did not live up to their promise.

I started this thread b/c I had noticed them cited at least a couple of times around here.

I think it’s lawyer Kung Fu he learned to hypnotize a jury and he does it instinctively.

I honesty never noticed it before.
