The only realistic way to deal American imperialism is for China to depoly a powerful military to neutralize America’s nuclear blackmail and make America pay an unacceptable price even in a conventional war. Otherwise, as soon as the Iraqi war is over in a few weeks, China will again come under constant American provocations.
China should deploy at least 1,000 nuclear tipped ICBMs immediately. China should also develop its J-12 fighters to counter America’s lethal fighter-bomber force. Without an effective military force China may possibly be bullied by the Americans even in its own territory.
China should also emphasize using nuclear power as a future energy source. China should rely on nuclear power for up to 75% of its energy requirements and reduce oil to domestic productions only. In addition, China should increase its use of wind power and hydropower to the maximum. China has vast resources and should be fully utilized before wasting valuable foreign exchanges buying foreign oil which in the end will also emit greenhouse gases that will lead to the rise of sea levels and causing floods in China.
Seems to me that the only bullying involving China that I’ve seen in the period since the break-up of the Soviet Union has been China ignoring patents and copyrights and stealing non-Chinese technology and American business leaders bullying the U.S. government to maintain China’s Most Favored Nation status so that they can continue to use China as a market for their own profits.
I certainly have seen no signs that the U.S. has “forced” China to recognize Taiwan, pull out of Tibet, or practice freedom of speech, religion, or association within Chinese borders.
I have no doubt that you are right, but I seem to have forgotten what constant provocations we have made against China. Maybe I’ve gotten them confused with the provocations against Japan.
[sup]Has it got anything to do with putting China on the Most Favored trading list despite China’s human rights violations?[/sup]
After watching my mainland Chinese co-workers trying to parallel-park their mid-size Japanese sedans, I’m not terribly worried about a fleet of J-12 bombers.
Welcome to the SDMB, Jiang
I see.
actually, I don’t. What the hell are you talking about?
The only ‘aggression’ I’m aware of that the U.S. has engaged in against China has been the U.S.'s stubborn aid to little Taiwan, to prevent it from being invaded and swallowed up into a Chinese Communist state.
On the other hand, it wasn’t too long ago that a Chinese pilot collided with an American airplane in international water, due to the pilot’s aggressive manoevers. And when the aircraft made an emergency landing on a Chinese airstrip, those friendly Chinese refused to return it until they had stripped it for intelligence.
I don’t know what propaganda you’ve been fed, but the U.S. has absolutely NO interest in attacking China. The only time they would ever come into conflict would be if China decides to invade someone else, or go to the aid of a rogue nation like North Korea.
Speaking of which… Why don’t you Chinese slap down that little maniac in North Korea? The crazy bugger is threatening to start a nuclear war, which will force your neighbors to arm themselves with nukes too. That’s not good for China. And yet, China is blocking the Security Council from acting on this. So if you don’t want the U.N. involved, take care of this little mess, will you? It’s mostly your fault he’s still around anyway.
China is already immune to conventional invasion from those durn yankees ( or anyone else ). There is safety in size.
At any rate given the U.S. has generally followed ( correctly, IMHO ) a careful course of realpolitik vis-a-vis China, which has been about as friendly as you can get for two nations with such radically different political systems.
So says the “made in China” implrint on my t-shirt, anyway ;).
Hah! The Yankee imperialist running dogs will use nothing so crude as military force to conquer China. You brag of “hollowing out” the American economy and becoming an economic powerhouse. What you do not see it that it is the Chinese social and political economy that is being hollowed out. All the new and exciting political and economic ideas come from abroad. All the new and exciting cultural memes are created in Hollywood and Madison Avenue!
For thousands of years, China has absorbed – and conquered – invaders by turning them into Chinese. But no more. Now your uniqueness will be added to ours. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
I believe the US Army’s new berets are made in China. I suppose China could always threaten to stop production and force our soldiers to go into battle without their cool hats.
Besides, isn’t China busy enough glaring at Taiwain and flooding half their own country with that monstrous Three Gorges Dam project?
IIRC, mssmith537, the US Army had to replace those with American-made berets. Must’ve been something to do with a song and a baby*.
*Obscure reference precedes this asterisk.
The scratch marks on the America plane showed that it was it that ran into the Chinese fighter, which the Americans denied. America is trying to provoke China just to show who’s boss. This is totally unacceptable and a violation of China’s national sovereignty.
I agree NK should be successfully dealt with and China should step up to the plate to help. Since when has China blocked the security council on this?
Rii-i-i-i-ght! A medium sized turbo-prop, designed over 40 years ago to be a commercial airliner (with over 20 people and lots of expensive equipment aboard) deliberately attempted to ram a fighter capable of flying four times its speed just for the fun of it (while on autopilot–as the flight recorder has established), while simply flying in a straight line would allow the P3 to gather more information than ramming the fighter for no reason would.
Y’know, propaganda can be fun, but believing it is the mark of the truly gullible.
I am not saying this is so. I am only saying that the US is interested in blackmailing China for its strategic interests. Therefore, the 1000 ICBMs must be used as a deterrent. America will try its best to maintain its global hegemony, and China is the country which will challenge it.
