I was thinking this myself, except that I watched her a loooong time ago and remembered liking her. I no longer like her and am finding her more creepy as time goes along. I can’t seem to quantify it though. I thought it had to do with the money, but it’s more than that. . .it’s the sense that she can say anything she wants without repercussions or caring about what anyone else thinks or feels because her groupies will back her no matter what.
Denis Leary was on her show today flogging Why We Suck and they included his diagrams of male and female brains. Apparently other women’s titsare on the back of our minds.
Two things bother me about Oprah. She is lacking in any tasteful restraints on her ego. I counted the number of times her name shows up during the last five minutes of her show. It was sad – twelve or thirteen times. Outdone only by Bill O’Reilly’s website. Putting her own photograph on the cover of her magazine every month is another example.
She has the right to do all of these things. It is just obsessive and screams for still more attention. She doesn’t seem to realize that there will never be enough attention.
The second thing that I dislike about her is that she is sometimes irresponsible with her power. Some people live and die by what she says. She is a little too casual in choosing her guests sometimes. I’ve also seen evidence that she herself did not understand portions of the book that was on her list.
Neither of these things outweigh my admiration for her and for what she has accomplished. She also genuinely seems to seeks to do a lot of good in this world. I don’t watch her often, but when I do, I usually find her very interesting. Her personality is amazing.
There was an issue recently that had not one, but two Oprahs on it, leaning on each other. It was either Photoshopped or she cloned herself. Either way, isn’t one Oprah enough?
We knew a women - several of my girlfriends - who we’ve sort of lost touch with. But she had GREAT breasts - and over the years on several occasions her most noticeable exceptional attribute has been discussed - and praised - at some length (she was also nice and smart). Now, when her name comes up the ones that never knew her say “the one with the fantastic rack, right?”
I think the question was how she responded in reality, not in your head.
And really–Rose McGowan does not belong in that list anyway. Change it to Natalie Portman and Taye Diggs, and I may be interested.
When my application goes through and I get hired as the new Oracle of Delphi, you can bet your ass a lot more things like this will start happening.
