Hi everyone.
I’m embarking on a photo project; I’m aiming to take fifty-two photos of a local country park in fifty-two weeks. The plan is to document the life of this place, mixing landscape, people photography and close-in shots of the tiny details that we all miss when we’re walking about. The idea is to select one image from each trip to be that week’s photo, building up to fifty-two images over the course of a year.
I want to collect these images and host them somewhere, maybe (but not definitely) with a dedicated domain name. I have dabbled with HTML and PHP, and I could probably lash something up from scratch, but this project is already going to take up a lot of my free time. That being the case, I’d rather use a “ready rolled” solution.
Accounts that I have at the moment which I may be able to use:
[ul]
[li]Facebook. I think I could set up a FB page with the url Facebook, as a “child” of my personal account. [/li][li]Google Photos. I have a Google Photos account, and I could easily set up a “collection” and make it public - but I’m not sure if I can map a domain name to it. [/li][li]Wordpress (hosted). I have no experience of Wordpress, but some googling suggests that it is pretty straightforward to set up, and would suit the blog-like nature of the project. Custom domain-name option is pricey, but I could live with my-project.wordpress.com[/li][li]500px. I have a personal account there, but it’s not as widely known as the other sites, and I’m not sure if you can “section off” a folder for a project like this. [/li][/ul]
I’m not on Flickr - I guess that may be another option?
All opinions and ideas welcome.
