If you get the LA Times, there was a detailed article about Berkley Breathed and his new comic, Opus, recently. I think you can read it online, but you have to subscribe.
“Opus,” a new strip by “Bloom County” and “Outland” creator Berkeley Breathed, will appear in The Washington Post on Sunday’s beginning Nov. 23. The comic will be available only in newspapers
Bummer.

Glad this is an actual sighting and not a rumor thread, cause I started (as far as I know) the 1st rumor thread, and as many of my threads do, dies and then a new thread started about a week late, and possibly another one a week after that

There were interviews with Breathed both on Salon and the Washington Post site. Don’t have the links handy, but a search of Breathed should reveal it.
In Harrisburg, they dropped a couple of negligable kid-oriented educational strips to fix Opus in, so we still get our fix of Cathy, Garfield, Mary Worth and other shining lights of the cartoon industrial complex.
I read the comics page today and carefully went out of my way to save Opus for last. Very funny, the only comic that got an honest guffaw out of me in the whole section. Thank god he’s back. I only wish he was doing a weekly section.
It’ll be nice to have Opus back. He’s been missed.
But – Sundays only? Um, didn’t we start this way with Outland, toddle along for a while, and then expire with a whimper? (Honestly, my memory is a bit vague on what became of Outland. Anyone…?)
The opener was weak: A 1/3 page comic for a fish-breath joke? C’mon, Berke! You once had 8x better material in a single panel.
That having been said: welcome back Bloom County ( III! )
Sort of ironic that a guy who so habitually railed against the “shrinking” of comic strips insisted upon papers giving his new strip almost a half-page. Guess what they had to do to most of the other strips in the funny pages, Berke?
Anyway I am looking forward to Breathed pulling out the daggers for the current administration, as he did so lustily for Reagan and Bush I.
