Or at least, I found some locally, at a grocery store in a higher-end neighborhood. It was a bit pricey, but I picked up two bottles anyway, because it’s totally worth it.
Trader Joe’s usually has it, and in the glass bottles. The cans just aren’t the same.
I fell in love with the beverage in Spain back in my mis-spent youth.
My city doesn’t have a Trader Joe’s, but I’ll look for it if I ever stop by one. Thanks!
I found it at Hy-Vee.
I am also a fan of Orangina and haven’t had any for a long time. Now I want some!
Excellent with a splash of vodka.
Or Campari.
Orangina is the drink of the gods. I first had it in French restaurants in 1988 from those small 0.2 l round bottles and loved it. Fortunately, a nearby brewery (Krombacher) handles the German distribution of the brand, so I can easily get it in supermarkets around here. Can you also buy the red orange variant in the US? Because that’s yummy too.
Not easily but I’ve seen it at Cost Plus World Market.
If you’re having trouble finding it, ask a small mom and pop type store. Even if they don’t want to retail it, they might be willing to order a case if you’ll take the whole thing.
My store sells it (and the red one), and we started selling it due to a customer request.
I very rarely drink except for an occasional mini-bottle of wine, and used to purchase it at a local natural foods store (which has since closed, and that all happened before COVID). That “kick” comes from a tiny splash of grapefruit juice, along with orange and tangerine.
I have a vague memory of a comedy sketch from the '90s where a man in a restaurant or at a store orders an Orangina and gets into an argument with a clerk who insists on pronouncing it as if it rhymed with “vagina”. Anyone else remember this?
Blood orange orangina? Sounds yummy.
Do they still make the diet/no sugar orangina? I loved that stuff.
Heh, that’s one of my things. I fill a tall glass about halfway full with some mixer. Then I say, “excellent with a splash of vodka” while filling the glass to the top with vodka.
The same way I make a Bloody Mary. If I can’t see through it, it ain’t doing me a lick of good.
After I moved to the US I searched a long time for a good orange soda. Orangina comes close, but the price and low availability pushed me to get used to just blending OJ and fizzy water from our fizzer. Oh how I hate the “contains no fruit juices” notice on labels.
I love Orangina, and, yes, it’s hard to find. I also love how the bottles fit in my hand. Heh, sometimes my glass recycle bin is 90% Orangina bottles.
The Easteen European groceries around here usually have it. I don’t remember a time where I’ve been unable to get Orangina, but I don’t buy it all that often.
That reminded me of the picnic my mother attended years ago, where one of the hosts was a known functional alcoholic. My mother wanted a “opaque” Bloody Mary, and the host made one for herself and the same recipe for my mother, who took a swig of what she figured would mostly be tomato juice, and instead basically took a shot of vodka. Oops.
Awesome! Loved that stuff.
Amazon’s got it. I never heard of it.
