Order of the Stick - Book 5 Discussion Thread

Have we seen cat people in the strip before?

We’ve seen that specific cat girl

Ha! I don’t think I ever noticed that Nale has his goatee even as a toddler!

He had it even as a baby

Strip no 818 is up

Who’s fool is Tarquin? Nobody’s. That’s who. It’s like, “Could he be somebody’s fool?” and the answer is “No, no he could not.”

The thing is, I don’t think he cares too much. Tarquin’s not *needlessly *evil. If people want to conspire, fine, so long as they’re not conspiring against him.

Not anymore.

Yep, Tarquin’s not blind and deaf.

Also, good thing Durkon’s leaving. His papers expired, what, 58 strips ago?

56

With the Order (minus V) sailing off, could this be close to the end of the chapter? I realize V is a loose end, but a lot of closure just happened. ?

No, we’re not quite there. Last two books were 190 updates each, and the one before that was 180. It will be about another 40 updates before we get to the end of the book.

New strip. It’s a good one.

So Tarquin clearly knows about their Gate quest, given “It is in our own best interest that they succeed” coupled with “they have zero chance of catching Nale” can only mean “succeed in the main quest”.

Tarquin is simply awesome. Evil beyond a doubt, but he’s not a sadist and not an egomaniac. He can see what’s in front of his face and plan at least five steps down the road. He isn’t petty.

I can’t wait to see the next strip – I hope Nale gets what’s coming to him but good.

Wow, Tarquin really is an evil mastermind! I can’t imagine Nale won’t be apprehended next strip or soon after (however briefly that lasts, as always).

… is it bad if you love a evil character? I mean seriously.
Nice. Very nice.

Oh, Nale. It’s such a fine line between clever and stupid.

What’s not to love about Tarquin? He’s handsome, charming, and very intelligent. And he’s not evil, he’s just…pragmatic. Well, he does have one serious drawback. He doesn’t take “no” for an answer.
