Order of the Stick - Book 5 Discussion Thread

“With a touch of chives”

heh heh heh

Oh, yes, mayhem is just around the corner.

I think the next kobold head is slated for use as a litterbox.

Ooo! Ooo! Ooo! The mystery prize for hitting the 630K goal in the pledge drive is a new comic every day until the end of the drive! Woo-hoo!!

No.
Really?

Really:

Yay!!!

I don’t quite get today’s strip - why would Belkar’s cooking skills help him track Vaarsuvius?

V is stranded on the elemental plane of ranch dressing. Belkar is tasting his way closer to ranch dressing. Presumably they started in the elemental plane of buttermilk, and headed toward its intersection with the elemental plane of onions or something.

I realize that this is mostly the fault of how Kickstarter organizes things, but I’m completely lost in terms of what happens at what levels even with the handy dandy chart. I think Rich will find, when this is all over, that lots of other people have gotten confused as well and it will be utter chaos trying to sort out the mailing issues and appropriate shipping costs.

835is up and you were right, although possibly not in the way you meant.

Also, it’s best not to think too much about the title of this one, trust me.

I’m not a total prude, but that joke was really over-the-top crass. Jeez.

It’s nice to see V and Belkar developing a rapport, though.

I think you just get the stuff listed, as opposed to some sponsorships where you get everything up to that point.

I bought into the $67 level for all of the print-only books, personally. I had been meaning to buy them, and this pushed me over the edge into doing it.

In a sick way, isn’t this evidence of Belkar gaining further empathy? I mean, he’s actually letting Yukyuk live.

I guess letting yourself be a cat’s litter box doesn’t count as an “obviously self-destructive” order. Yukyuk’s Will save must be absolutely atrocious too.

Z’s going to be one hell of a surprise at G’s Gate, isn’t s/he?

He’s also surprised at Mr. Scruffy’s apparent random, baseless hostility, and tries to get him to stop. Historically, he’s been all about random, baseless hostility.

For the moment. Who knows what tomorrow’s strip will bring?

Is he? He doesn’t promise not to kill him. He just says that he won’t kill the kobold FIRST.

‘It’s more fun to humiliate him, which I can’t do if he’s dead’ might qualify as better impulse control, but I’m not sure I’d call it empathy.

Redemption is a rare and special gift. Unless you’re a fan-favorite comedic psychopath, then it’s the default state that can only be held at by by constant, active, pointless evil.

There’s the overall goal lines, and there are the individual support levels. Anyone who pledges at least $10 gets all of the PDF bonus comics (originally, this was just the O-Chul story, but as the overall goal has crossed various thresholds, the Dim Sun, Julio Scoundrel, and Haleo and Julelan comics were added to that package). The main goal lines are mostly for determining what books go back into print, and how large the print runs will be. Other than the extra PDFs, the individual pledge awards don’t change, unless you change the amount of your pledge.

/off-topic, & dumb question:

I just used the kickstarter (I had to create a login), and selected the $45 pledge. I was shunted to amazon dot com, and provided a credit card number when prompted. I got a confirmation email from both amazon and the kickstarter page.

Do they use the shipping address off amazon’s records? Because I never got prompted for a mailing address.
