Blackwing is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.
I am getting seriously pissed at GITP. I check the site every morning before I leave for school, looking for a new strip. Then they post one after I leave, knowing that I can’t access the site from my classroom! I’m convinced it’s a plot by Burlew to drive me crazy(ier).
Get ready to be pissed again when you read it.
My book 4 just showed up in my mailbox so shipping went a lot faster than I expected for the holidays. The package also included an extra surprise that I’ll spoiler protect for those people who are waiting on their order:
Two OOTS Christmas cards!
Spoilers for a bonus strip in book 4:
So Belkar is foretold to save Hinjo’s life twice. The only one I can think of is when he pulled the assassin off the wall during the battle. Has the other time occurred yet? I don’t think it was with Miko because Belkar didn’t help in that fight, he just tried to block the door as she was running out…
It’s just that if he hasn’t saved Hinjo’s life twice then it’s likely that Belkar is going to survive the current book length story arc. And that puts the OotS member to die in the current book (assuming that Burlew isn’t just jerking people’s chain with the hints) as Durkon since we know that he’s doomed.
The Order needs to run. Now. If Xykon comes before they have a chance to clear out, that’ll be a TPK.
Also, for those of you who got Book 4: Does he confirm that “I…I must succeed.” are the four words for V’s prophecy?
Yes. Burlew explicitly says that those were the four words.
(Protected for those who want to preserve the mystery.)
BOOM.
Heh. Nice flumph callback.
In studying the “boom” panel, I was looking in reeeeeeal close…
“Ok, I see some specks on the panel…one…two…three. Hmmm, just three of them flying away from the explosion. But there were four of them (plus Blackwing) there – I wonder why we don’t see four specks and who is missing from t…waitaminute…”
<scritch><scritch><scritch on the screen>
That’s when I decided it was time to break out the monitor cleaner.
I was gonna say – I love that Belkar was making a sand-flumph.
Oh, gorgeous way to turn this around. “We got this, everything’s under control we are so fucked.”
Oh, very nice indeed. Love the flumph reference! So … where the hey is the real Girard’s Gate?
Oh, Girard, Girard, Girard… :smack:
The guy has proven to be blinded by paranoia, suspicion and hatred of Soon. Whether that hatred was justified or not, his actions have jeopardized OH SO MANY THINGS… Also, giving the real coordinates to Serini…? If he was convinced that keeping the coordinates hidden from anyone was key in hiding the real position of the gate. Oh Lordy.
Looks as if Rich Burlew is now showing that Chaotic Stupid characters can be as judgmental, intransigent and -basically- self-defeating as Lawful Stupid characters “à la Miko”.
Rich is showing that, all things considered, the Order of the Stick might be the sanest people on the entire game world.
Which is rather scary, thinking about it.
I think Burlew is probably making a point in showing how the Order of the Crayon (or whatever they’re called) ultimately was unable to work together even though they knew how important their mission was and the way the Order of the Stick has managed to put aside their personal issues and work together.
Well, yes. That’s why they came up with the one man, one Gate system in the first place, after all.
