If (as seems likely) that’s the last survivor of the Resistance, then it was Haley they were liaising with, and I don’t think they even know Roy’s alive.
Niu was the last survivor of the resistance. She’s the rogue that Thanh ordered to escape and do a sending to the SG when the resistance was crushed. So it must be the SG, which has every reason to think Roy is as alive as Hayley.
Haley was the leader of the resistance after Azure City was conquered. Roy was just some guy who fell off the city’s walls before the goblin army had even breached them.
Thanh was the leader of the resistance. Hayley was just some redhead toting around a halfling and a corpse.
No, he wasn’t. Not until Haley left to get Roy rezzed. Here’s the comic where she handed command over to him.
That is a good point.
I wonder if they tried a sending while the OOTS was under the influence of the phantasm, and when they couldn’t get Roy, they decided to try again with the second-in-command.
I forget what “SG” is supposed to stand for.
SG = Sapphire Guard
I was being facetious. My actual point is that the only one left alive who knew anything about Hayley’s role (as leader or otherwise) in the resistance is Niu. She sent word to the Sapphire Guard about the Xykon and Redcloak’s current status, and is very likely still stranded near Azure City, far from any allied magic users who could do a sending (she used a scroll that Thanh gave her to contact the SG).
One thing about Nale – he can sure take a beating. In the past few days, he’s survived a Harm spell from Malack, the OOTS ambush/Belkar beatdown, and now nearly being cut in half by that trap. But if he keeps mouthing off to Malack, his luck may run out.
Everyone can survive a Harm spell. It can’t reduce you to below 1 HP. He is lucky he dodged the follow-up quickened inflict, though.
Everyone working for Hinjo knows about Haley’s role in the resistance: they shared information at their war councilwhen they teamed up at Roy’s ressurrection to share information. Haley gave Hinjo troop dispositions and the information that Thanh was in charge.
Many thanks. ![]()
Sure, but it doesn’t make sense that she’s the first one they’d try to contact. They all know Roy is in charge of their mission.
I’m sure there’s a perfectly logical reason why Haley is the one being contacted, that will be explained in the next update.
Poor Roy. I think that even up until the very moment he saw Durkon, he was in denial, hoping against hope that somehow Belkar was lying. Now he can’t deny it anymore. And I don’t envy any Order member having to actually fight Durkon.
Hell, I’d say that he’s earned Belkar’s respect, and is (or was) probably the closest thing Belkar has to a friend. “There’s nothing funny about it. He just walked in there and saved my life, and got straight-up murdered for it.”
Well, that’s interesting.
So if they have all those detect spells active and walk back outside where the OOTS is behind a fake wall…
Wait… only Malack will see them, right?
Regardless of what comes of this, I have to say that Girard was a magnificent bastard.
Now THAT was quite the troll for Girard!
My guess is that the Gate IS in the pyramid - just in some odd obscure location no one would think to look, instead of in a huge trap guarded room with an enclosure in the middle that just screams “Look inside here!”
