Roy tells Durkon “Have Spiky and the dominated soldiers cover us until we’re clear, then release them”. Indeed, I don’t see Spiky in the final panel. Did Roy intend to have the devil dismissed? Seems like a waste of resources. Or do you suppose Spiky is following off-panel?
Related question: did the dinosaur do that roll on purposes as part of some “Tumble” skill (for instance, as demonstrated here by Elan in panels 8 and 9, or as mentioned by Haley in the antepenultimate panel), possibly thanks to the potions Vaarsuvius fed it? Or was it just a simple trip-and-roll thanks to the encounter with the other big dinosaur?
ETA: Also, I just noticed that Mr. Scruffy also managed to cling to the dinosaur, just like Durkon. Ha!
Given the stats for dinosaurs, none of them have tumble as a feat, and none of them have particularly high DEX scores. I think it’s just falling and getting back up.

Anyone remember which strip Elan first talked about dinosaur rides in? I think there was one from waaaay back . . .
I don’t recall him talking about dino rides, but he got one when Tarquin gave him a tour of the kingdom. It was a big multi-panel strip with cuts between what various members of the OOTS vs what Elan + Tarquin were all doing.
I think it’s just a reference to this double panel.
He wants to BE a dino.

BTW, can we finally herald the expiration of the the “OMG, they’re going to go through the rift!!” speculation? Are we there yet?
Is Tarquin standing by the rift? Because if he isn’t, then they might be heading right toward it.
I don’t think so – in the 4th-to-last and 3rd-to-last panels, the dinosaur is first leaning up against the bottom of the ramp-like sand pile leading up out of the pit, then coming out of the pit at the top and scattering the crossbow wielders up there. As the strip ends, they’re heading across the open desert at top speed. The rift, of course, is still at the bottom of the pit.
No doubt to circle around and dive off the pit edge right into the rift.
