What is a chaos weapon? d20srd is not being helpful. It only harms non-chaotics? Linky linky?

+2d6 damage to Lawful creatures. They’re technically called “anarchic” weapons, which is probably why you had trouble finding them in the srd.

Thanks! d20srd article for anyone interested, skip to “Magic Weapon Special Ability Descriptions.”

Edit: Damn it, never mind.

Digging the Bat-kon. Anyone else hearing John Williams in their head when you read this strip?

Ran out of edit time.

Looks like Durkon can work his staff. At least to turn on the Pro. Daylight feature.
I love how Julio’s got so many puns—“feeling shagged?” LOL—that he can burn them just flying in circles around Tarquin. Which is funny in itself. Plus, we’ve some hints about where some of T’s ex-wives got off to.

Speculation on the OotS forums is that a Chaos Sabre is some custom special weapon, probably with an effect over and beyond an off-the-shelf anarchic weapon. Note that (amazingly) D&D 3.5 doesn’t actually have stats for a weapon called a “sabre” (or “saber”) at all. But Malack is just as lawful as Tarquin, and in fact, it seems likely that Tarquin’s entire party is lawful, so such a weapon should work just fine against any of them.

And while the spell on Bloodfeast can be fairly easily undone, it’s really not likely to happen by accident, or while they’re still on the airship. It’s actually kind of convenient that he got Baleful Polymorphed, since that makes it a lot more practical to take him with them on the ship, while still having an instant dino available as soon as they land.

Oh, and I have a feeling that each previous time Julio stole away one of Tarquin’s brides, Tarquin was feeling quite distinctly unshagged.

What is V doing with the whip in panel 2?

Just holding it, it looks like.

Doh!

For some reason, it looked like he had it wrapped around Durkon’s throat. Now I see it is not.

It can be as foolish to be overly cautious, as to be reckless. The wise person can assess and understand risks, and make a clear-headed decision as to whether the outcome justifies action, being able to foresee (whether through intuition or whatever) the likely consequences of said action.

Elan demonstrates little of this. He is reckless and shows a blithe disregard for consequences. He trusts his genre-savviness more than is warranted by the situation, which more than once has gotten him and the OOTS into serious trouble. That isn’t wisdom.

ETA: I’m not saying wisdom is Elan’s dump stat, which is plainly intelligence. But his wisdom seems to me to be on the average to low side.

I just noticed that Bloodfeast still has his reins. There is something about a 10 once lizard still equiped to be a mount that makes me giggle like an idiot.

I wonder…

Is this “concern” a side effect of Belkar using his Ranger-based animal affinity slash animal charm skill?

Stupid cat. A ranger is supposed to influence an animal’s behavior. You’re doing it backwards!

Which is all the more surprising that it does differentiate a greatmace and a maul, when the two are pretty much the same fucken thing (or at least, as much as a sabre and a scimitar are :)).

oops

Never mind.

I’d think Julio is toast once Laurin returns. No?

Depends. Laurin is just as likely to say, “Fuck this” and pop back home. She’s not invested in this little battle beyond getting her favor from Tarquin and additional dangers (like a high-level rogue/dashing swordsman) may make that less of a good bargain to her.

Plus Laurin’s deal was to help kill Roy. If Roy is on the airship safely away from Tarquin (and among some unknown number of friendly NPCs) and killing Julio isn’t going to immediately lead to Roy getting killed, I don’t see why she’d even touch the added risk.
