Freed but still Evil and presumably inhabited by Hel mojo, so not much difference there.
Or maybe not, now that I think about it - I don’t recall whether that was Jossed in the comic but how come Hel got to claim Durkula, when he was vamp’d by a disciple of Nergal ? Godly jurisdiction over dorfs/people from the Northern Lands or something like that ?
Just my WAG, but perhaps the new effects have nothing to do with any intrinsic powers of the sword, but are in fact caused by some unknown player trying to influence events?
No. Roy asks if, were a deity no longer has a cleric present by the tie-breaker would their vote still stand and Wrecan says no. Destroying Durkon will nullify Hel’s vote and break the tie in favor of saving the world.
Durkon probably did not kill the demigod priests because they are covered by the protections of the Godsmoot. Even if the other clerics weren’t immediately aware to stop it, the respective deities would still protest and probably nullify Hel’s vote for breaking the rules. Durkon was only able to kill the Stone priests because they are nontheistic and so have no deity to protest on their behalf (nor are they actual representatives at the Godsmoot). If Durkon was to vamp/thrall any of them, they would be clerics of Hel and not get an extra vote.
Just out of left field, if Durkon gets destroyed and Resurrected, I wonder if he’ll still retain knowledge of the Protection from Daylight spell he researched as a vampire.
Divine magic isn’t like arcane magic. Anybody can learn an arcane spell if they see a spellbook and have time to copy the spell. Divine magic is still granted by a deity - in this case, Hel. So I’d wager that Durkon would be unable to cast it, since he’s not actually the one who researched it; the Durkula demon is.
True, but there was a whole comic about how deities allow clerics that do not worship them to cast spells from their domain. Just like Durkon can cast Firestorm despite Fire being from Loki’s domain while he was a cleric of Thor. So presumably he’d still be able to cast Protection from Daylight due to the divine rules around spell-granting. Why he would want to is another matter.
That’s Fenrir’s priest (god of monsters). In the comic where everyone gives their votes, he also has animal ears and a tail. No idea what race he’s supposed to be.
While divine spells are granted by their respective deities, divine magic is still treated much the same as arcane magic in Stickworld. We had this discussion when Durkon was first killed by Malack. If the spells were purely divine favors, how could Durkon cast a spell with a secret backdoor inserted by Malack? “Dear Thor, please grant me protection from negative energy unless someone says ‘Xxzyzy’ in which case never mind and let them kill me. Amen.”
To go in the other direction, can Vampire Durkon currently cast Mass Death Ward?
Everyone has yellow eyes because they’re casting their proxies. Afterward, everyone’s eyes seem to have reverted and his eyes just happen to be red. He’s also shown here.
I think he’s just a monster of some type. Plus Fenrir was voting “Yes” anyway.
