Agreed. Still have the dwarven minor god to keep from voting one way or the other.
Roy is picking a fight. Go get 'em, boy.
Interesting. Roy remembers going home after death, when before he said it was just a blur beyond the gates. Sure, maybe that’s a just a vague thing he still remembers, or maybe he brought some food down with him at one point. But it’s still interesting.
And, yeah, I love the line about the rules lawyering. He could have said that Hel wouldn’t have left such an obviously loophole, but he instead winked at the fourth wall, showing some genre savviness.
He brought a bowl of mom-balaya down with him in the elevator.
1023 is up.
Roy is not only genre-savvy, he’s humor-savvy as well.
Considering the last two strips were somewhat light in the moving-the-plot-forward department, I’m kinda glad we only had to wait four days for this update.
A fair amount of what he’s doing in these last two strips is filling plot holes. That is, various posters on the other forum are saying why doesn’t Roy or one of the HPs do this or that to resolve this arc and he’s giving reasons why not. But I agree it’s good that it’s getting over with relatively quickly. Personally, I wish strips came out at least twice a week all the time. Then maybe this story would be over before I advance another age category.
**1024** is up.
Interesting. But yet another side quest before we get to the final confrontation.
Okay, then . . .
And how can knowing Durkon can return to his homeland help OOTS gain the upper hand?
For Frigg’s sake!?
Maybe stirring Durkon’s last bit of strength for the internal fight by knowing that his deepest desire has been fulfilled?
Miko! I always liked her
Maybe by allowing Durkon to finally let go, to realize that his greatest wish has been granted and he can go peacefully to Thor now. And in doing so, maybe empty the host that the vamp spirit is using rendering it inoperable?
I don’t believe the original soul has any power over the vampire. I think he is hinting that Durkon will be unvamped in some way.
I like the philosophy, anyway. “I do not venture a guess, but it is true. And the truth always has a use.”
That is a GREAT line. I’m gonna steal it someday.
Not direct power, no. But I do strongly suspect that Durkon will have to be involved in the unvamping in some way. Right now, he’s completely given up. Maybe this news will revive him inside that skull, and give him a renewed desire to fight.
I do also wonder if Durkula actually depends on that hatred. Ever since he pointed out that he’s a dark mirror of Durkon on his darkest day, I’ve thought he might need to be fought off with his brightest day.
“In brightest day, in darkest night, no evil can escape my sight”
How long until some ubernerd comes in and points out that it’s “shall escape my”–Oh, wait.
