And isn’t it *blackest *night?

(Apart from the Elseworlds one where Bruce Wayne becomes BAtlantern)

I have to say, I appreciated the pun in the last panel more than I want to admit. And I think it would be unsurprising to have some means of getting the real Durkon back.

Anybody wondering how Belkar is doing against that newly vamped cleric?

(And yes, it is Blackest night)

Yes, as well as wondering if V is going to arrive before Roy leaves. Otherwise he’s going to have to wait while V drops off Little Whiskers.

And Belkar dispatches a… vampire cleric troll? Not really sure what Belkar was facing, but I’d guess he still is.

Miko!! Slowly I turned… Step by step… Inch by inch…

Be funny if Little Whiskers started chowing down on some of the “YES”-voting priests.

Got a touch dusty in here, reading that.
Hell of a sendoff for Wrecan. I vaguely remember the original poster at GITP, but I imagine a lot of the strip jokes are references to things he’d posted about.

I hope he’s looking down, reading it, and is happy with the tribute.
:teary-eyed emoticon:

A very touching comic, to anyone who’s been active on the GiantITP boards. Though the gag about “I like counting things” took me a few moments.

Good strip, good sendoff.

Looks like someone else is taking a prestige class. I wonder what the resident Dashing Swordsman will think of that?

A great and touching way to work a sweet farewell to Wrecan into the storyline (and establish key points about Greenhilt), almost three years after he passed away. Rich certainly knows how to play the long game.

Yes! Finally a prediction of mine that came true. (post 1972) That puts my record to around 1 and 86.

No idea if Roy’s deal is a prestige class but, if it is, I imagine Elan’s reaction would be joy that he and Roy have that in common.

And probably a demand that they dedicate an entire strip to a joint training montage.

Yeah, that one hit me right in the feels. A touching tribute.

Note also that Wrecan’s real name is “Mark Monack”, which I assume is what the strip title (Mark of Distinction) is in reference to.

Weapons of Legacy was an actual 3.5 sourcebook. I never read it, but reviewing the wiki entry, this isn’t a prestige class. Possibly feat-driven, but it sounds to me like a new rule addition, not an expansion of existing rules.

It’s a whole sourcebook called, funnily enough, ‘Weapons of Legacy’.

It’s a real D&D thing: Weapons of Legacy.

There is a prestige class associated with weapons of legacy, but its main distinguishing feature is that it can be used in some optimization shenanigans that we’re never likely to see a main character in this strip engage in. And there are some feats involved, too, but it’s not clear whether you get the benefits by taking the feats, or get the feats for free by doing other things. Mostly, the rituals for powering up a weapon of legacy involve things like permanently sacrificing a few hit points.
