Order of the Stick - Book 6 Discussion Thread

In discussions about the strip.

I thought that was answered in Start of Darkness, on page 40.

Don’t be so quiddity, bro!

Banjo’s quiddity doesn’t have enough qualia.

(Insert hilarious “Why am I posting when I’m so drunk?” comment here.)

What color would Banjo’s quiddity be?

Hot plink.

So does this mean that maybe the entire plan is let the new Dark One get control of the gate, and the Order of the Stick has just been getting in the way?

It just might put the Order on Redcloak’s side, but not Xykon’s. Where the MitD stands is still undetermined.

Nah, Odin is the brains, Thor is the Bro.

Me neither, but it’s a thing: Quiddity - Wikipedia
Wiki:
In scholastic philosophy, “quiddity” (/ˈkwɪdɪti/; Latin: quidditas)[1] was another term for the essence of an object, literally its “whatness” or “what it is”.
How does the World in the Rift tie into this? Also, if Alessan’s right with the MITD being one of the Eastern Pantheon, does that mean there are five possible colors that can be used to battle the Snarl?

Thing I saw at the Forums: Does Roy’s sword glowing bright green have anything to do with the Eastern Pantheon, or is it just a natural development of his name being Greenhilt, after the sword?

Going to be interesting getting RedCloak to buy into a team-up, given how much he feels he’s given up to follow Xykon. Is there another goblin that could wear the Crimson Mantle, and therefore fulfill the Dark One’s plan? I mean, they’d need to be a cleric, right? To perform the divine part of the Ritual? Or would simply donning the Mantle convey enough cleric knowledge to be able to do it?

Anyone else getting the feeling Thor is going rogue with this direction? That the rest of the established Pantheons don’t know about what he is planning, and probably wouldn’t approve of what he wants to do in regards with the Dark one?

YOU! Go to your room!

So it’s possible that The Dark One liberating the goblin species could actually save the world?

Xykon once threatens to give Redcloak’s mantle to (the corpse of) Jirix and Redcloak doesn’t have a “that wouldn’t work” but he could have just wisely been keeping his mouth shut, given the circumstances.

Even if Jirix (or whoever) wasn’t technically high enough level to use it, Xykon would probably figure he can just powerlevel the new goblin through a series of dungeons until he gains some levels. Plus, Xykon is undead so it’s not as though he’s working on a strict time schedule.

If I remember right from Start of Darkness, Redcloak had only just been inducted into whatever church structure the goblins have on the very same day he ended up with the Crimson Mantle, so he had probably just received his first class level, or at least pretty low. You clearly don’t have to be that powerful to use it.

Seems like the Dark One might be able to get what he wants by cooperation rather than threats - wonder if he’ll figure that out in time.

I’m betting he’s on Mr. Stiffly’s side.

And as we know from Start of Darkness, when the time comes that Redcloak has to betray Xykon, the MitD is going to at least briefly be on Xykon’s side, even if it won’t be voluntarily.

Odin definitely knows about this possibility. The question, though, is does he know that he knows?

And “quiddity” is literally “whichness”. It’s the trait that a thing has that makes it that thing.

Which means I’m betting that the Final Showdown has O-Chul there to counter the MitD.

Or it might put the Order on the Dark One’s side but not on Redcloak’s.

I’ve pointed out before that there are clues the Redcloak might be misreading what the Dark One’s plan is. He might be injecting too much of his own prejudice and desire for vengeance into the plan.

I feel the same way here I felt during the final confrontation between Cinderella and the Wicked Stepmother in the recent live-action Cinderella movie. There’s me shouting at the screen: There’s room here to make a deal where EVERYONE WINS! Do it!

Well, everyone Except Hel,… but screw that bitch.
