Order of the Stick - Book 6 Discussion Thread

Oooh, a nice meaty strip.

Banjo may be a member of the dark one’s pantheon – at least, his brother (buddy?) is a god of the orcs – shouldn’t that naturally align with the god of the goblins?

In that case, it’s going to be up to O-chul to interpose himself between Redcloak and Monster-san.

It will be counter to almost every instinct he has as a Paladin.Except perhaps the knowledge that True Wisdom includes the ability to recognize when the Alignment tables are an inadequate tool to determine the best course of action.

The only evidence we have about Banjo is that he attempted to join the northern pantheon at one point and was rejected. So Banjo was not automatically enrolled in a pantheon when he became a “god”. And he did not join the northern pantheon and there’s been no mention of him joining any other pantheon since. So presumably Banjo and Giggles are independent from any other pantheon.

Maybe they can fom their own pantheon, giving the gods a fifth colored quiddity against the Snarl.

While clerics can technically worship any minor pseudo-deity or cause that they want, I assume those don’t actually translate to actual deities or pantheons (Banjo jokes aside) or else there’d be a full Pantone color palette of quiddities to choose from and fight the Snarl.

More seriously, this adds strength to the idea that the mitd is Zeus. Because then it would be 5 colors against 4.

I still want there to be a brightly-colored felt quiddity. So, let Mitd be Zeus, and contribute a green quiddity. Then, the Snarl kills the Dark One, leaving the Snarl nearly spent, but restoring it to color parity.

And THAT’S when the Banjo/Giggles quiddity shows up in the nick of time (possibly aboard the Mechane) and saves the day! Hooray!

Yes, I know. sad.

The spoilers here are extraneous and annoying.

I mean, is it a surprise that O-Chul is a paladin?

Right there in the OotS wiki:

Did you just do this to be annoying?

Probably.

Oh, c’mon. You knew somebody would do it!

I dont know whether to report this … after I stop laughing. :stuck_out_tongue:

No, I didn’t, really.

Just didn’t think it was any more egregious than

and to be honest, I didn’t see

Lighten up.

OK, guys, Chorpler’s spoilers served a purpose, because not everyone in this thread will have read Start of Darkness. The rest of the spoilers in response to that, however, seem to be just for purposes of annoying people. Knock it off.

Clive Barker uses it a few times - there’s a Sea of Quiddity in his Books of the Art. Also China Miéville is also fond of the word.

Roger. Wilco.

For the record, I haven’t read Start of Darkness. I have read these discussion threads, though.

So, time for us readers to start speculating and developing a theory of quiddity chromodynamics

I think we can rule out the possibility of Hel having Charm. So let’s mark her down as Strange.

Considering she’s a death goddess, Bottom would also be appropriate.

Bah, I still use Truth and Beauty for the two heaviest quarks.

I just noticed that when Thor is explaining the dolor theory, he mentions that all the previous worlds… All but one…were made of three colors. I wonder if the one world is the one that Blackwing saw. Also, is that the original world? Maybe the Snarl can’t destroy it, even though it killed everyone there. Perhaps everyone can get moved over to that world through the use of certain gates…
