Crystal got to level up while sitting around playing cards, just by dint of being Haley’s nemesis. Hilgya isn’t exactly Durkon’s nemesis, but a similar principle might be in play.
I’m more interested in what Durkon’s saying under his breath…or trying to say, at any rate.
Eh, that’s why I mentioned Elan/Nale as a real example. Hilgya met Durkon for all of a couple days and while Durkon broke it off, it certainly never came close to “nemesis” levels of separation. Hayley and Crystal had a long history of mutual hatred, Nale had a history of hating Elan (even as Elan had no idea about him), Hilgya has like two days of history with Durkon.
Although he did reject her. She could be the epitome of the crazy jilted lover.
I recognize that it could go however Burlew wants to write it. I just ain’t buying the idea
Sorry, when? In the first two panels of 984? That’s just Durkula forcing air in and out of his lungs to simulate breathing, to fool the blindfolded clerics into not realizing he’s undead.
“Durkon, I will not be ignored!”
She’ll boil his al’miraj…
Or there could be a little dwarf baby. One never knows.
985 is up! My, we’re getting spoiled with quick updates these days!
Man, that gnome’s never going to make it far in her temple with a Wisdom that low…
I’m guessing there’s some little-known holy site in the mountains, and the gods gain power by their worshipers going there, or something. Durkula wants to be there for Hel.
Or something like that. Maybe it empowers the priests, instead. But something along those lines.
I’m not sure, though, why this site, or whatever goes on there, would be kept secret. Or just how much of a secret it is: It looks like everyone above the novitiate level knows they’re not supposed to talk about it, but then, why doesn’t Durkon know, too? He was above that level when he left his homeland, wasn’t he?
Maybe it’s something that became known after he left his homelands? He’s been hanging around with humans for a long time now.
What interests me is that a number of groups have gone through in just the last few days. Is this a regular pilgrimage and this is just the time for it, or is something heating up somewhere?
Thoughts - how did the blindfolded acolyte catch the thrown bag?
Is Durkula’s mission perhaps to get more clerics for Hel?
Probably not, he says he doesn’t want to talk to the actual pilgrims.
Roy has at least a +15 Base Attack Bonus. It probably landed in her hand.
Luck. Good throw. SKILL: catch money.
Or FORESHADOWING.
I doubt it, I think she’s just a nameless bit-part we’ll never see again.
I’m guessing that Something Fairly Serious is happening now that requires the attention of a lot of clerics - perhaps something relating to the Snarl (who, let us not forget, has very recently made an appearance in this plane).
Right, yes, it just seemed like it was more content-laden than just breathing - “gwooBearf” rather than “Uh-Ah” or something.
So, if a bunch of pilgrims are all heading to the same place, maybe that means the deities will all be in the same place too? Possibly an opportunity for a surprise attack by Hel?
