Order of the Stick book 7 discussion thread

If the plot requires it, then he will be. It’s increasingly my prediction for whatever eventually happens in this comic. Cloister depends on the caster’s level, and I don’t think anyone has a handle on that for Xykon, other than ‘he’s got a lot of them, more than 21.’

Can you Scry to another plane?

No comments on the stealthy appearance of Therkla in the flashback?

Yes, it’s possible, but it’s more difficult, and less likely to succeed.

"Furthermore, if the subject is on another plane, it gets a +5 bonus on its Will save. "

Here’s one: It hit me in the feels. Poor Therkla. :frowning:

It took me a few moments to realize why she was there - she was stalking Elan.

Poor Therkla indeed.

Didn’t even notice her in the flashback when I first read the strip. Read some comments about it, thought “There was a ninja in the frame? Where? What are they talking about?” Went back and reread it and saw her.

Hit me in the feels. Her finish to her arc, and Tsukiko’s end, has been some of Burlew’s best writing, IMHO.

Thanks for the info on Scrying, Peter. So, its possible for V or Durkon to use the Go pebble and maybe get a line on where our plucky duo have ended up.

1204 - Not Again

I really didn’t think Durkon would break his word like that

plot just got thick!

I’m not sure he did. Something might have happened to him that he didn’t plan. Gods, fate, the power of plot, etc.

In everyone’s opinion, does the title refer to Durkon splitting the party, or is it hinting that he might be getting killed again.

Burlew’s moving the plot along swiftly, if not the drawing.

I think the last time Redcloak would have noticed Durkon is Durokon’s dungeon, right? And Redcloak can’t even remember the least fact about Roy (though he recognizes him). So RC probably won’t twig that this random dwarf is in the OOTS. Right?

Of course Durkon will just tell him, having 0 ranks in Rogue.

He didn’t. It was Strip 1200. First, I don’t believe that Durkon promised to do or not do anything, nor did Roy order him to do or not do something. So there’s no promise or command that he’s broken. But more importantly was Roy’s wording “So please, do not use your last Sending spell to contact (Redcloak).” And he totally didn’t do that.

Should we be using spoilers? I’d assume most people read the comic before coming to the discussion.

Thor’s Might during the Azure City fight may have left an impression. Even through the spyglass that RC had to use to monitor the battle because he was so far away from the fighting until the last charge. Did RC notice Durkon on Hinjo’s junk? I remember RC was busy fighting with Hinjo and Lien at the time.

He may not recognize Durkon. The armor’s different, the weapon is different, the voice is the same though. Albeit Durkon isn’t chewing out Belkar now, nor trying to turn undead.

I’m really curious to see if RC zaps this hapless bugbear handing him a scroll, and if that’s the way we learn that’s how RC is choosing to say, “Go ahead, I’m listening.”

Where’s Minrah?

The fact that she’s not on the cliff but isn’t visible with Durkon makes me think they may have at least attempted some form of subterfuge.

I figured that was Oona, no?

Certainly, in the post announcing the update, and the first few posts following. Someone might otherwise open this thread, and get spoiled before they see the comic. But a few posts is sufficient spoiler space. After that, open spoilers permissible. If someone scrolls down three posts to a spoiler, they only have themselves to blame.

No, Oona has antlers on her helmet. This one has horns.

I think Redcloak has moved past the point where he was casual about the deaths of goblinoids.

(And I never noticed the general falling down in panels 2 and 3 as the summoned elephant was dismissed before now.)

As Peter already said, not Oona. I don’t think he’d kill this bugbear for the hell of it, but RC cannot let Xykon learn about any potential deviation from what X thinks is the Plan. RC can’t trust that this particular bugbear could keep his mouth shut. RC was all set to kill the goblinoid spy in the Resistance, and I’m sure he’d have killed the goblin master craftsman who made the fake phylactery, if Tsukiko hadn’t done it for him.

Of course RC probably isn’t going to listen at all. Which makes any thought of hiding disloyalty moot.

That was my thought – spoilers are nice in the first couple of posts, but pointless after that.
