Neat. Also hard to image Burlew conveying that as successfully with his original art style.
And Belkar, as often, is right: Roy is totally cool to murder.
Nice! Went as I expected. Rare when that happens. The Order wasted a lot less magic too.
Wouldn’t Roy’s sword tip have materialized in front of Xykon? Or did it get—very briefly—teleported over to yet a third area?
Wouldn’t Greyview have picked up their scent again, inside the threshold, but before the Teleporter?
Belkar doesn’t always speak in the last panel, but when he does, he has the best line of the whole comic
It is really funny. Is it a riff on some other series solving their plot problem in such an abrupt way?
Anyone else think that this two page strip looks like two separate one installment strips smushed together? I was scrolling down, read the “I don’t know, kinda played out at this point,” thought that was it. And then there was more!
Very Xmas feeling, when you’d forget a present behind the tree or something.
I’m trying to hear “WONNNNH!” in my head, and failing.
One of the GITP posters wondered whether it sounded like a lightsaber. I think more like this Foley of what would be a Star Wars blaster shot.
My mind’s ear is conjuring up something more deeply-pitched, like a force-field generator in a sci-fi show.
Whelp, one month later no comic. Did Berlew hurt his hand again? Get arrested for insurrection?
LOL that would be too funny!
While he doesn’t post about politics, the way his views on inclusivity and gender have evolved, I’m pretty sure Rich is no Trump supporter, though…
Didn’t he say somewhere he was going to be dealing with some of the leftover Kickstarter work?
It doesn’t sound like something he would say. He doesn’t usually announce this sort of thing until he’s ready to release.
There are many possible reasons for the delay. One possibility is that he’s working on kickstarter, or a new prequel book. But there are many other possible reasons. And he rarely tells us the reason, with the exception of his hand injury.
Found it. He had an update email to Kickstarter backers on December 31. Relevant text:
“Update” in this case is referring to the Kickstarter stuff, not the comic itself.
We’re going to build Goblintopia and make the Order pay for it!
Make Stickworld Great Again!
All Goblin Lives Matter!
You know I’m automatically attracted to chaotic evil. I just start killing people. It’s like a magnet. Just kill. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a level 22 Lich they just let you do it. You can do anything.

So here’s something interesting Blackwing showed up in the background when Roy travelled backwards through the gate, not the rest of the Order. Does that mean if he went through then went back he’d flip back to cave that Xykon and gang are exploring?
Okay, Blackwing just replaced Belkar as the funniest character.
Flap, Flap, Flap, Flap
btw, is the dead end Roy saw perhaps an illusion, concealing the Gate?
Interesting. The short section of the tunnel between the door and the trap must be painted to match the other tunnel. Or (more likely) be composed of a thin layer of rock from the other tunnel.
As far as Blackwing being visible behind Roy when he sticks his head through, that tells us something about the trap’s magic. The teleport part of the trap is cross wired. That is, going through the undisabled trap from either way sends one to the other tunnel. But the scrying spell only works for people going in the door and those in the other tunnel going toward the door. People in the other parts of the two tunnels just see straight through.
So, as I see it there are two corridors accessible from each doorway, and linked via a trap portal. We can call these sets of corridors X (for Xykon) and O (for Oots).
Each X corridor consists of a small dead end, and a large sprawling network of tunnels and rooms filled with monsters. The X corridors are all seperate from one another and sealed off from the outside world, with access only via magic portals. They are probably local - maybe deeper underground, but conceivably could be on the other side of the planet.
Each O corridor consists of an 10 foot stretch past a doorway, then a straight corridor going further into the rock. Some or all of these corridors could be linked to each other, and the Gate is probably located in one of them.
Am I missing something? Is there a reason I’m not seeing why Roy assumes they are in the original tunnel? Or why he assumes Blackwing entered the same tunnel as Team Evil did?
It seems like a leap to me to go from knowing there is more than one tunnel to assuming there are a total of two tunnels.
I’ll grant there is an additional piece of information Roy didn’t explicitly mention. He knows that Team Evil have been able to exit tunnels and return outside while the teleport line in their tunnel leads to a dead end. And we’ve now seen that Blackwing was also able to exit the tunnel he was in and return outside. But Roy had already concluded that Blackwing was in Xykon’s tunnel before he knew this.
It seems like an even bigger leap to me for Roy to assume he’s in the original tunnel and Blackwing and Team Evil were the ones who were teleported to a duplicate tunnel. The evidence of the floor color would suggest that the Order are the ones who were teleported to a duplicate tunnel.
