She would be wiping “short term memory” as she understands it, as it exists within the magical rules of her fictional reality, as depicted by a fantasy writer, who is probably drawing on pop culture understandings of the term, not “short term memory” as it is currently understood by real-world neuroscientists.
It’s not like there are just two or three discrete forms of memory. One could have something that wipes a few seconds of memory, or a few hours, or a few years, or (in a setting with long-lived races) a few centuries. Or anything in between.
The point is that her brew, however it works, is long enough to make the paladins forget about finding her, but not long enough to wipe her memory of the Gate, and so, relative to a hypothetical potion that could wipe her memory of the Gate, this one is short-term.
That’s fifth edition rules, but this is set in 3.5 still, where short-term memory is plot-lengthed.
Oh, for the love of muffins!
I’m gonna start using that.
@Chronos, your post is a potential spoiler for anyone that hasn’t read the strip. Please blur it.
The fact this thread has been bumped is spoiler warning enough. Blur your own posts if you wish, mind your own business for other’s
I’ve long thought that (Open Spoilers) ought to be added to the title. There’s little point in hiding spoilers in a thread like this.
Usually the first bump in a while – ten days in this case – is the new strip itself. If you’re too busy to read it at that moment, don’t scroll past it. You don’t want to jigger the last read pointer in any event.
When I click a link to the latest post, it shows that post on the top, and then shows the next post or two under it.
I think it makes sense to blur the first couple of replies just in case you see the reply before you’ve clicked on the link to view the comic. After that, no spoilers.
This seems to have been the policy we were unofficially following. That said, it wouldn’t hurt to go back to making the link bigger. You can do that by adding === on a line below the link, like so:
[Example](https://www.google.com)
===
I agree that I thought the policy was to spoiler the first 2-3 posts after each new strip is linked. (if they contain anything spoilery.)
Seems like less of a policy thing, and more of a best practices thing.
How does Sunny get through the magically conjured stone? The closer Sunny gets, the smaller the anti-magic cone becomes. Close up, it would be no bigger than its iris (see the last two panels).
The stone probably disappears as long as any part of it is in the cone.
Most likely it disappears for the rest of the round, during which he can go through it.
Tomorrow marks 1 whole year since Serini revealed herself. One year and virtually nothing has happened
Took almost 4 weeks for that one. Newbies may be surprised to know that at the start the pace was almost 3 strips per WEEK. Now, my understanding is that Rick has had some medical issues which have affected his work pace, and new strips typically have a TON more detail than early ones (feel free to click back to compare).
Hard to say how much added time that adds to strip composition, though. A lot of it is copy-and-paste, and he’s doubtless found ways to streamline his work.
On the other hand, the early strips were joke-a-day with little worry for continuity or overall story, while nowadays it’s a lot more serious. And he’s getting close-ish to the end, so he probably has to be more careful to get it right.
I like the banter. And the last line is such pedantry, it would fit right in here.
If Rich was born in Japan, he would have 2-3 assistants working with him as well as an editor and consequently greater throughput. Oots, the manga would have been completed long ago, with 2+ seasons of anime made, a radio play, and something live action (the last one not very good). Maybe a video game.
Rich would be working on his next project, or quite possibly the one after that. He would be richer, but he wouldn’t have Hollywood blockbuster levels of wealth.
