Order of the Stick book 7 discussion thread

I’d say that’s pretty much a common perception of wedding receptions even in the real human world.

They’re like holidays with family, in that respect.

Face to Face

What would really make this would be if, in the next page, Young Serini starts mouthing off about Old Serini, too. That would, after all, be an unlikely circumstance that an epic rogue might plan to circumvent.

Could you please spoiler box that comment, @Chronos.

1286 - Change of Scenery

Are we back in Dorukan’s Dungeon?

It certainly looks like Dorukan’s Dungeon. But as I remember that suffered from a minor case of being blown to smithereens.

What better way to hide something than to make you think it’s been destroyed?

I’m speculating they’re “back” only in the sense that the story has returned to a dungeon crawl, which is how it began. I don’t think this is the same actual dungeon.

Although Burlew has surprised me before.

The distinctive color of the floor is the same as in the very first strip.

However, I don’t remember what color the floor was in Durokan’s dungeon, or which strips might show it.

The first strip WAS Durokan’s dungeon. They were there throughout the first book, up to #119.

Aha! Shows how much I know!

I don’t think it actually is Dorukan’s dungeon. The mortar color is different.

I think that it looks very similar to Dorukan’s dungeon because it’s contemporary with it (i.e., before the art upgrade). That swirly portal looked like it was behaving a lot more weirdly than a simple teleportation portal (which, as we’ve seen, need not have any visual effects at all). I think it’s a time portal. Whatever reason there is to be able to have access to the Gates, Serini was clever enough to know that the best time to access it was before you found out that you needed to, so she built a time offset into her dungeon-access.

There have been several art upgrades since then.

Also, different sections of D’s D had different colour schemes.

Play the Hits: 1287

I wonder if this discussion will lead to Belkar’s death.

It’s a callback to the style of humor in the early strips, making fun of game rules.

Oh man, that was some good clean 2006 humor.

Vaarsuvius with the quantized nature of injuries is the highlight for me :stuck_out_tongue:

“Mass Encourage Light Abuse”. < snerk >

Well, that explained … nothing.
