Order of the Stick book 7 discussion thread

Also note that Blackwing is nowhere in evidence (callback to early jokes where he only appears when someone thinks of him) and Vaarsuvius is walking, even though he was flying before going through the portal (callback to him having trouble finding a flying spell).

It’s all those things, and i, too, love the quantum theory of damage, but i also suspect this this is leading up to Belkar’s death.

1288 - Plus They’re Not Even Blue

you beat me to it.

This feels like filler.

Eh. I like seeing how devious Burlew can be if he didn’t have to make it believable that the OOTS would survive.

I’m not getting the ‘blue’ reference.

It seems like the comics are coming out faster than they have for a while.

And the big green thing is apparently a Froghemoth - the 2nd edition picture is dead on.

It is annoying when a comic doesn’t advance the plot particularly, but I try to remember that ultimately this meant to be read more-or-less all at once in a book - the pages that are a joke or whatnot would just add to the overall feel of the story.

They are a bit annoying when they pop up after a long break, though.

The “Blue Poets” are not even blue. Maybe their poetry is just really depressing.

PS: I’m not actually blue, either.

I don’t think blue poets or knee-breakers are real DND monsters :frowning:

Knee_Stealers.

But better or worse than Vogon poetry?

I think it’s supposed to read “blue posts”.

I had to zoom in to see if it was poets or posts. It’s poets.

Not to mention Belkar saying the same word.

Maybe Burlew is channeling Douglas Adams, but changing the words to disguise it somewhat.

Blue poet = Vogon
Knee-stealers = kneebiters

So does anyone want to go through a Douglas Adams-designed dungeon?

While not plot advancing, I was amused by the “Dungeon of total bullshit monsters” concept (where disenchanters and rust monsters definitely qualify). Needs some shadows and a hatch with a hundred stirges behind it. If it was an earlier edition, add in some undead with permanent level drains.

Sadly, I’d think that the Mechanus guy can easily Wall of Force them off without much risk or loss to Team Evil.

From what I understand (and I’m sure I’ll be corrected if I’m wrong), many of these monsters are early edition monsters. Remember she built this dungeon years ago when the first or second edition was the latest thing. She may have stolen some from Dorukan’s dungeon.

As long as the dungeon ends with The Tarrasque, I’m happy.

I’d like to see The Tarrasque (height 50 ft, length 70 feet), followed by a herd of Patagotitan mayorum (length, 102-122 feet), and maybe a few Paraceratherium (16 feet tall, 24 feet long), running around under their feet.

Hm. Maybe in snarl-world.
