Order of the Stick book 7 discussion thread

OK, that is very different from a paramecium…

Or, blue in the same sense as a “blue comedian”

I immediately thought of a Vogon (which are green, and the second worst poets in the universe), but I doubt whether GITP would bring in a Douglas Adams reference.

(ETA - I see some oters followed the thought trail first. Cvrses.)

Why not? He’s made references to many other works. Why wouldn’t he have an Adams reference?

Welcome back, btw.

Sight unseen

In Haley's Defense...

…Elon seemed to enjoy watching her search for traps back in those days. So “Hey, cute redhead” seems to apply as a minimum standard.

Now I’m imagining Elon Musk with bleached blonde hair in all of Elan’s scenes

That would be Nale, then.

Did anyone else notice that we, the readers, never see the Indescribable Horror, either? So maybe that particular trap is actually empty? Like, if the creature within had somehow been released decades ago, and has just (to its frustration) avoided being seen clearly ever since?

I had a similar thought.

As did I. :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t worry. Mr Scruffy is keeping an eye on that monster.

Hm. Well I suppose the story could have 2 indescribable horrors in it. Or 2 Douglas Adams- inspired creatures.

Then again, maybe the monster just has a gaze attack. Here’s a list of them at the Oots forum: Gaze Attack Monsters I don’t think that’s it, but the list is fun.

I had just assumed that this was entirely the joke - we neither see it nor can it even be described to us.

I think you’ve missed the point of Chronos’ message. He speculated that the monster is no longer there. It left decades ago. The trap is empty.

And where has this creature gone to? Where could it be hiding? Think about it.

Oh right. Except that it was seen by the hunters, the goblins and the people at the circus.

Also, Serini has been keeping an eye on Team Evil and would have noticed him there.

And Oona peeked under umbrella

(I suppose that might fall under ‘the goblins’ in a broad sense)

I’m feeling dim. Serini’s final line comes across like she’s been listening to Haley and Elan’s banter and is responding to it as subtext even while she’s superficially talking about traps. But is she reflecting on her own love life? Is she snarking on their own foolishness? Is she reflecting on her own poor decisions about the snarl? Is it something else? I’m just not getting it.

If someone needs to throw a blanket over Sunny, surely it would be a problem for Oona?
