Ordered a "special" pizza

Yes, but that pizza looks like this;

Whereas a “medium” pizza at an American pizzeria looks like this;

And here I thought this thread was going to be about being charged an extra couple of bucks for the special order.

In some countries I’ve visited, “special” or “happy” pizza is topped with marijuana or hallucinogenic mushrooms.

ETA: I’ve always enjoyed how many of the shop signs feature a pizza or sun grinning in a clenched-teeth rictus.

“But, I don’t actually have any money on me…”

All I know is I always insist they cut my pizza into eight slices, because I can’t eat ten.

This is why I only order from joints that don’t cut their pizzas.

It’s democratic and they pass the savings on to you!

how do those two pictures convey relative size?

There needs to be some object in those photos for scale.

Right. Like another pizza.

That’s a valid objection. But I can at least see that the second (American-style) pizza has a significantly thicker (bottom) crust. The style/thickness of the crust can make a huge difference in how filling a pizza is.

No big deal! Cut the pie in half then cut each half 4 times into 5ths.

Go to a Gaussian pizza shop, and ask for 17 slices.

If the diners are picky, it may really be best to order the pizza unsliced, as you will end up executing a last diminisher or Even–Paz algorithm on the pie.

If I had received the request for cutting it in some way other than a six or eight piece normal cut I would have told the customer I’ll just leave it uncut and they can take care of it however they want at home.

I wouldn’t really call that “American-style.” That’s a Pizza Hut pan pizza, similar to Detroit-style pizza. I would say the vast majority of pizza served in America is thin crust.

Yeah, I didn’t mean that it was the American style of pizza, just that it was an American style of pizza, as a way of identifying which of the two pictures I was talking about.

I was thinking the OP had been to The Mint cafe in the Valley of the Sun. I’ve heard mixed reviews so was interested in the OP’s opinion.

Dude, just request NO cut, and cut it yourself. Owning a rotary pizza cutter is easy, I think there is at least one, probably 2 in the junque drawer right now.

Yes, I’d like to order a medium ‘Alistair Crowley’ with extra pepperoni

I have a giant knife that i use to cut pizza and biscuits. :smiley:

But yeah, if your want a weird, non-standard cut, best to ask for it uncut, and do it yourself.
