How do you prefer to have your pizza be cut? Triangles or Squares? Why?
Squares. All sides are drippy and biteable.
Always triangles, so the pointy end goes easily into your mouth and you have the crust side as a handle.
Wedges. I eat the floppy cheesy and tomatoey bits and the dog enjoys the crusts.
Not complaining either way, but going to go with squares.
Why? Hmmm… i like how you get a variety of edges. Some pieces are mostly edge. Some have no edge at all. Some are just squares with one edge on one side.
With the triangles, I’m more likely than not to abstain from the crusts. With squares, more likely to eat them.
Beck: check your PMs in a minute…
Why??
Not to hijack, but @JohnT what up with your eyes?
Round pizza: triangles
Rectangular pizza: squares
I don’t eat pizza (personal reaction) so I normally wouldn’t have a dog in the fight.
But I recall an awesome take on the issue from @Stranger_On_A_Train who has taken a walkabout from these parts and felt it was worth of inclusion. All credit to them, and my apologies if sharing it is too much, but you’ll have to come back to yell at me Stranger.
I like it both ways and it depends on the style of pizza. Most places know which method is best for the style they serve and will cut it accordingly. Thin crust usually gets cut into squares pub style while traditional/newyork or hand-tossed is triangles.
Squares is for the cheap pizza that they get when they want to say “Free pizza” while serving two hundred folks. Mind you, I won’t turn it down, because free pizza is free pizza. But…
Wedge-shaped sectors are for good pizza.
I don’t mind squares except for the middle sections that have no crust to hold on to.
That really was an epic rant. It delighted me all over again. Thanks for resurrecting it!
I always miss @Stranger_On_A_Train when he takes a break and just have to trust he will return in his own good time.
Triangles make sense for round pizzas. Squares make sense for square pizzas. The main thing I don’t prefer is the squares that have no outer crust.
Squares are OK when they are from a rectangular shaped pizza that has only one cut down the middle, so every piece has a crust side to hold onto. There are a lot of really great pizza places here in New York use that style.
I think he had a little too much to smoke
Squares, but I’m probably biased since the good places around here do squares and the shitty mass market Dominos, etc is triangles. I actually like the variety of sizes you get and those tiny corner bits are my favorite. It’s like a freebie tiny slice of pizza, what’s not to love?
Squares, because it means I’m in Rome.
Squares, because Detroit style pizza.
mmm
