For some time now I have been perplexed by the name of the liqueur Triple Sec. As many of you may already know, Triple Sec is a sweetorange liqueur used in making Margaritas. But that is what has got me so perplexed. “Sec” might come from an Italian word meaning “dry” (i.e., not sweet). And I have no idea what could be triple (i.e., 3x) about it. It’s a single liqueur AFAIK. Someone please enlighten me. And feel free to include links, if any, that apply.
Tripple distilled, according to that site. I assume it’s a French word, maybe related to *seco *(dry) in Spanish, but I’ll leave the translation to someone who actually speaks Frnch.
