Finally. Not that the remake is not good, but it is not as good as the original. Robert Mitchum plays one hell of a good heavy. Although I think his best performance ever was as Harry Powell in Night of the Hunter.
That was one of my favorite films as a kid and I watched it on TV every time it came on. I was a weird kid. I’d love to see it once on the big screen.
I’ve never seen the remake.
I love this movie. It’s one of the few movies I have to sit and watch to completion if I find it while channel surfing. (Coincidentally, The Night of the Hunter is one of those, too!)
Mike Patton’s band Fantomas did a great cover (pardon the off-topic images :))of the theme music.
One of my favorites. Although, I thought Deniro was much creepier as Max Cady, than Mitchum.
OTOH, Nick Nolte couldn’t hold a candle to Gregory Peck.
