Original Words of Wisdom

Give us your original Words of Wisdom-something from yourself that cannot be found elsewhere and said by someone else.
Pain is never lessened by someone else pointing out that they are in more pain than you.

Nothing good comes with age.

If you drive a Jeep, wear comfortable walking shoes.

Sharing joy to increase your own joy may be somewhat selfish…which means that even selfishness can’t be all bad.

Always err on the side of extra cheese.

Find Yourself Trying.

I like the triple entendre:

  • Try things
  • If you are trying, you’re likely to find your better self
  • Find yourself annoying, i.e., stay humble

Teaching sex as “the birds and the bees” is an invitation to a stung pecker.

Only the one-eyed man can make peace.

It means only the person on the receiving end of violence can make the decision to break the cycle and hold back from taking another person’s eye in retribution. Whatever caused the loss of the eye in the first place, whether it was malice or accident, doesn’t really matter. Taking an eye from someone else in retribution or seeing “justice” will leave the whole world blind. The one-eyed man must decide to forgive their injury and stay their hand from seeking an eye from someone else in return.

Enjoy,
Steven

Never have sex with a dead body under the moonlight with sausages tucked behind your ears. Unless it’s a Tuesday.

Winning a halo for yourself is fine and dandy. But it’s the also the consolation prize for dead people.

“A king reigns, and a horse has reins.” Used to remember the two apart.

“Anything worth know’n, I already know.” Said after consuming copious amounts of alcohol. There’s no real wisdom in those words though.

There’s always a break in the traffic.

While everyone should have basic human empathy, you cannot allow yourself to be equally upset over every single tragedy that you learn about. If everything matters that’s the same as nothing mattering.

Shit Happens.

In the real world, rock beats paper.

Here are a few of mine:
Proving a theory false is a triumph of science, not faith.

The truth is not necessarily the whole truth.

Economic theory was creatred when there was more work than men, by economists who never imagined otherwise.

Pain is nature’s way of telling you that you did something wrong. Death is nature’s ultimate way of telling you that you did something wrong.

No matter how bad a shape your body is in now, in ten years you’ll be looking back and wishing your body was still in that good a condition.

Alcohol should be rated on the “Shot/Glass Scale”: How many shots/glasses of the substance do you have to drink before you decide that it is the best you’ve ever had.

When my oldest was thinking about not going to college: “Stay uninformed and you’ll end up uniformed.”
