Orlandope, Kissimmee style

I’d prefer a place that has food if not necessarily a sit down restaurant. Googling Sun on the Beach says they have some food in addition to drinks but their activity list was last updating in November so who knows…

Oh, and Old Town: it’s like one of those faux town centres of the type that were appearing all over in the mid 2000’s, except it’s about 20+ years old and touristy. So yes, like Winter Park Village but without the traffic going in between businesses, and with more attraction-like stuff and chintzy and cheesty, NTTAWWT.

There are a lot of restaurants there. Flippers pizza is good and has subs and pasta dishes in addition to pies and calzones. Its less than a block down into Oldtown to hit up Sun on the Beach for drinks. There is also a general diner type place that opens up later, a tropical themed sandwhich place, and loads of fish and chip stands.

Not to belittle your concerns or anything, but you really can’t miss the huge honkin’ ferris-wheel.

I almost missed your house and you were in the car with me.

Alright I just got the word about when I have to work on Sat. I do need a ride (not having a car around here really sucks) If anyone is willing I would be most grateful. I can kick in for gas money as well. My email is in my profile. I am very much looking forward to this.

What’s your (rough) location? Like… zip code.

gf is sick, so I’m gonna stay home and watch movies with her, as I feel bad going out while she’s ill (plus she might throw-up on some of my stuff).

Ah well, have fun and I’ll try and catch you all next time.

So is anything nailed down yet? Place? Time? Still feels kind of vague to me, guys. Not that I’m promising I’ll be there, but if I can…

My Zip is 32837 (hunters creek represent! :o )

So like I said before I am lacking a vehicle and would much appreciate a ride. I hope tomorrow is as fun as I’m imagining it to be. Well either way it will be more fun that sitting around the house all day.

Oh for the love of Pete, let’s do it like this. Speak now or forever hold your pieces.

Where: Old Town (http://www.old-town.com/) In front of the Ferris Wheel, unless somebody has a better idea.
When: 6PM, Saturday January 17th, 2009
Who: Dopers and other assorted miscreants
Why: To have fun!
What: Huh?

I won’t be there until later though, so hopefully somebody can make it by 6PM to lead this goober parade :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay, that works for me. I guess when Auto shows if we haven’t decided on the board where we’ll go after we meet at the Ferris Wheel he’ll call one of us?

Sounds good. Ivylad and I are planning to be there, but we probably won’t do the rides.

Directions below, if anyone needs them:

From Interstate 4: From I-4, take Exit 64 (old exit 25A) to Highway 192 eastbound for about one mile. Look for the giant Ferris wheel at the main entrance on the right, at Marker #9.]

See you all there! TFR, I emailed you.

RNATB, are you bringing the missus-to-be?

No… she’s a little uncomfortable with the idea of meeting total strangers (to her) from the internet.

I find this truly bizarre, because she meets even-more-total-strangers to give/recieve free/cheap stuff off Craigslist all the time. She’d already scheduled a girls’ night with her pals anyway, which I don’t begrudge her since she hardly sees them now that we’re slowly turning into the classical married couple (ie., homebodies).

Nashiitashii and I will be there.

Yup.

I find it economically inadvisable to party tonight, guys. Sorry. :frowning:

Ivylad and I left early, but the rest of them are partying on in Old Town. We have a full group, eight people when Auto finally showed up. Thanks to Acid Lamp who kept checking over by the ferris wheel after we got seated in Flippers.

It was great seeing everybody and meeting Falling Reverend, who does look like Dan Ackroyd. We had a wonderful time!
