OS6 Killed my iPad 2 -What to do?

have you discussed this issue with the authors of your VI Mobile App?

It sounds like they have an OS incompatibility problem. As a former software dev, it sounds as if they are not catching a memory allocation problem.

The app runs fine on OS6 on iPad3/4. It ran fine on iPad2 5.1. The issue is not with the app software, it seems to be with the iPad software.

But in general, apps that no longer function after an OS upgrade lead to a change in the app.

If the limited iPad2 memory is being hogged by the OS6, I have a sad suspicion that a “fix” to the app will require a downgrade in video quality or frame rate…which sort of defeats the point of the megapixel camera. Sort of like rolling the windows down because the ACs broken.

Anyone know how to pick apart OS6?

You are correct in thinking the solution is a fix to your App, but the exact fix will determine what video quality is possible.

IME, every OS upgrade has had an impact on available memory, iOS is no different. You can never assume that an application written for OS version N.N will work on N+1.N.

Maybe you are mistaking the iPad 1 for the Zeroth generation iPad (the one with no cameras)?

I’m talking about the first generation, which is commonly called the iPad 1. What other version is known as an iPad 1?

**Gary “Wombat” Robson ** claims to be running iOS 6 on a first-gen iPad. I know that is not do-able, probably not even desirable, not even with a JB. So someone, somewhere, must be confused about numbering (I do not actually think it is you).

iOS 6 is the most advanced OS. I have it on my 64 GB iPad 3. Seriously, it’s awesome. But then again, I’m an Apple Fanboy.

I feel sorry for your loss though. You may want to visit MacRomors. Their Message Board is designed for Apple related questions and concerns.

I have tried Chrome, but not Opera, but I will now.

My mistake. I’m running 5.0.1 on the first-gen iPads.
I got so caught up in upgrading the new iPads and the iPhones I forgot I hadn’t tried to upgrade the old ones.
