Oscar Meyer Liversausage?

I eat the Boar’s Head stuff (I think that’s what the deli counter slices up for me) and I like it. Was the OM version better?

I miss the Oscar Meyer braunschweiger (tastes like liver sausage to me) too, but I’ve found an adequate substitute in John Morrell braunscheiger.

I’ve never seen that in Tennessee.

I have never in my life seen this. Is it sold in the US? It looks like something made to be sold in other countries.

You know, it’s been awhile since I’ve looked and seen it, but it definitely was around here in Chicago in at least the early 90s. Now I want some liver “cheese” (there’s no actual cheese in it, much like “headcheese” has no actually cheese. It’s a straight transliteration of the German leberkäse, which you can find at some delis in Chicago, as well as at the Christmas market.) Walmart supposedly carries it, but all of the ones in my area list it as “out of stock” on their website.

Did it have a bright yellow wrap around the rim of each? If so, I loved that stuff.

Yep, sold in the U.S. Was readily found in New Orleans-area grocery stores until a few months ago. :frowning:

It was pretty popular when I was a kid … not like the #1 cold cut option, but something you could definitely order from any po-boy shop. I think it’s been selling less and less locally – the price per package of OM Liver Cheese had gotten to about $5 (more than all the other OM meats) and it was never put on sale.

Yeah, I was looking around today and found it here in Chicago. Never had it before so I picked up a package. I’ve been to two other grocery stores this week that didn’t have it, so it’s not a ubiquitous product by any stretch, but it’s still distributed in Chicago. (The braunschweiger all three groceries had. I wonder why it’s disappeared from Tennessee.)

The distributor won’t carry it!

Bosda, go to the Aldi’s over on Robert Rose, they have braunschweiger that is just delicious. It is in the top right corner of the specialty cheese refrigerated area.

I’ll give that a try.

I bought some there earlier today.

Bought some.
Shopping at Aldis is strange. No credit cards accepted.

Haven’t eaten any yet, but it looks good.
Good color.
Very promising.

YES !

WONDERFUL !

A charming, full flavor!
And so fresh!

Brand name “Deutche Kuche”.

Delicious.

I have a package of that in my fridge right now. Bought it at the commissary.
