See, the problem I have with calling those ‘left wing’ is that at least some of those ideas are not political-leaning inherent. Just because something is fringe does not make it left wing. Feminism, yeah, women’s right has always been a left issue. Environmentalism, kinda, it’s been largely taken over by the anti-business faction, and it’s not really what it used to be. Atl medicine and woo, no. There might be more leftist involved with them, but I don’t think they’re inherently leftist.
Actually if i remember right, I was on a woo type board for a while. I dont think I got kicked off, but I did get bored eventually.
I am on one enthusiast site where, when someone makes a post about their new “wafflemaker,” frequently somebody else chimes in basically to say how they used to have the same model wafflemaker and it becomes all about the guy who used to have the same wafflemaker but he stopped liking it or he had to sell it to buy clothes for his kid or some such.
It was a rant, and it was nicely done. It was also a denunciation, an excoriation, a criticism, and a discommendation. (Ooo. According to my thesaurus, a synonym for critic is smellfungus. Never heard that one.)
This was pretty much my experience with most of the military history forums I used to post on back in the day - it just gets to the point where pretty much everything anyone can say on the subject has been said and besides helping new members identify something in a photo, there’s not really much to do besides engage in armchair speculation about What Might Have Been, and even that gets old after a while.
I belong to a catapult and trebuchet forum where after almost 2,000 years they are still improving these things. Primitive archery boards, backyard chicken boards, bow hunting boards, creative thinking boards, distillers boards. I just come here when I feel like getting beat up.
Lets not suck each others dicks yet, while well policed this Board suffers from its share of trolls, idiots, self conceited keyboard “tough guys”, snark-board piñatas and abuses by moderator pets. As for “cool and hip” well for the most part the photo threads tell you all you need to know about THAT.
