Other reasons to drink coffee?

I drink it in the morning for the more obvious reasons, but:

I drink coffee in the afternoon because it keeps me awake at night - unless - I drink a beer or two to “take the edge off”.
“I know it’s only Thursday, honey-bunny, but I was drinking coffee all afternoon and I won’t be able to sleep, so I’m only drinking these beers so I can get some sleep.”
Pretty thin, eh? Yeah, the Mrs. doesn’t buy it either.

When I was a lad at University, my friends and I would drink coffee by the pot-ful if we didn’t have any liquor or “13”.

We need reasons to drink coffee?

I like the taste. I’m not bothered about the caffeine in the least (I drink a good quality instant mostly and yes, I realise some people consider that an oxymoron).

Regularity. I have a bit of, um, “stomach trouble” and I drink coffee religiously in the morning because I MUST “go” before heading out the door or life gets more complicated.

Also keeps the caffiene-deprivation headaches from coming. . .

Other reasons to drink coffee:

Gives you something to do at Starbucks.

Sitting down with a friend for a cup of coffee is one of life’s small pleasures.

It’s a reason to get up from your desk and go somewhere.

It keeps me from killing several of the idiots I have to work with!

It’s an excuse to take a break. “I’m not goofing off; I’m on a coffee break.”

Makes cigarettes taste better.

Ditto jacksen9 on the social aspect.

In some places a coffee buys you unlimited sitting time at the cafe.

“13”?

Marijuana.

I have the opposite kind of um, “stomach trouble,” and my commute to work takes about an hour, so I CANNOT drink coffee before leaving the house… I wait until I get to work.
