Other than Angry Birds, what are the best smartphone games?

Osmos is frustrating enough for me on a tablet. I can’t imagine trying it on my phone.

I’m happy to admit that I just suck though.

I think Osmos is just like that. It was painful when I played it on a PC with a mouse.

I’ve enjoyed going thru the puzzles on 100 floors. Well most of them anyway.

Same here, I’ll add also:
Hive
Dominion
Settlers of Catan
Frantic Frankfurt
Tigris & Euphrates
Tichu
Scotland Yard
(Reiner Knizia’s) Money

Regular video games I’d throw out:
Jetpack
Zenonia
Amazing Breaker
Rail Maze

Another vote for Cut the Rope and Plants vs. Zombies.

Contre Jour is quietly addictive. It’s a little hard to describe, but I’ve never seen a game quite like it before.

I’ve also been spending a lot of time on W.E.L.D.E.R.; you make words by sliding letter tiles on a grid. I thought it would get old quickly but it hasn’t yet. Then again, I’m kind of a dork.

I play Pixelated.

I’ve really enjoyed the Tower Madness game. I play it quite a bit and think it’s one of the better TD games out there.
Most of the levels and most of the weapons are well designed so that there’s a natural progression and a logical build order, with multiple avenues of success.

Fair warning: there are some levels you can’t beat on full without purchasing the add on weaponry available.

World of Goo

King of Dragon Pass for iOS is pretty good, though the mechanics can be a bit opaque.

Capita is a good one. It’s a remake of the classic Sentinel game from the C64, ZX spectrum generation of the 80s. Controls work very well on the ipad.

Only problem is that I suspect it may be a bit easy. I was pretty good at Sentinel back in the day and remember some excruciatingly hard levels. I’m breezing through the Capita levels and haven’t seen a real ramp-up in difficulty yet - maybe it’ll come though.

How well does Plants Vs Zombies run on handhelds? As it’s amazing on the PC, the first strategy game that every held my attention, and the first tower defense game I’ve played for more than a few minutes.

I’m also a big fan of Fruit Ninja, but I’m not sure that’s a phone title, and not a tablet one. (I’ve played the Windows 8 version.)

I got Temple Run today, and it is quite a bit of fun! A ‘similar’ game that I’m toying with is Line Runner.

Plants vs Zombies is fantastic!
Also, Hero Academy. I so so love this game, it’s a turn based async tactics type game, so kinda like words with friends, but tacticier!

I enjoy Flight Control

Battleheart.

I also enjoy Alchemy. It’s a puzzle game of sorts where you start with the four elements Earth, Air, Fire and Water, and by combining any two make something new which you then can combine to create something else and so on. Sounds simple but it is a lot of fun.

Clearly, the correct answer is: Inappropriate Llama Disaster, a one-click game where you are presented with a tense situation (funeral, bomb defusing, wife catching her cheating husband, etc.), and you have to choose the worst possible time for a llama on roller skates to show up.

A one-trick pony of a game, but damn funny.

Oh, man, that game is fantastic. The original for Wii is awesomesauce, if you have the Wii setup. Mr. Shoe, trained as an architect, could happily lose hours in that game. The music is beautiful, too.

It’s a phone title, too and quite fun.
