Ottawa Dopers, how are you doing?

Hated by the clowns in the Medom Convoy. Hated by Western separatist ding dongs. Hated by senile old morons in Alberta who think he is his father
Hated by stupid people who cannot answer a simple question about how he could, as theFEDERAL prime minister, have told PROVINCES what to do when they have jurisdiction over public health.

So? Who gives a fuck. Is he supposed to cater to these people? What’s your point?

What do you think the PM should have done so he wouldn’t have been useless in your view?

I already stated it. Invoke the Powers Act earlier. I also pointed out how it would have been used by providing military heavy lift equipment as support. It’s not particularly complicated.

And this shows you have a poor grasp of Canadian politics, the emergencies act, or the realities of how Federal and Provincial governments operate.

It doesn’t mean Trudeau is Satan incarnate. It just means he was late on his actions.

Feel free to cite your opinion. Trudeau invoked the act according to it’s charter.

So he did not do this fast enough in your humble opinion, with your deep knowledge of Canadian politics, so therefore he is “useless “. Ok then.

You haven’t provided any deep knowledge of Canadian politics that disagrees with what I’ve said.

Maybe later I will deliver you a paper on historical Canadian federal provincial responsibilities, the evolutionary of the War Measures Act into its current state and how minority governments work in a parliamentary system, but it’s getting late.

All you need to do is show the time line involved invoking the Emergency Act.

All you need to understand is the political implications of a minority government pulling the trigger on such a major decision, one that has to be introduced to Parliament, both House and Senate within 7 days. You seem to think this is trivial. It is not.

That has nothing to do with the timeline of invoking the act. The 7 day review by Parliament is POST declaration

It sounds like you’re trying to say it has to have everybody’s approval. It doesn’t. Quebec’s Premier François Legault isn’t in favor of it. it’s not popular given the 1970 incident in that Province.

No, I’m not remotely saying that.

You simply don’t understand Canadian politics, or history.

At all. It’s complex. You are painting it as a simple decision. It is not.

Brutal Ottawa police hand out notices to criminals;

Snowflake criminals cry that they are being harassed.

Lots of people, including at least some non-insane people who didn’t already automatically hate him, have argued that invoking the act even now is an over-reach, and you think he should have done this as his first act, or something?

That’s just as nuts as the Fuckers Convoy.

If the city or the province had done their jobs, there wouldn’t have even been a crisis. Trudeau wasn’t wrong to wait and see if they were going to get their heads out of their asses. the Emergencies act is supposed to be a last resort, not the first resort.

Leave now or face arrest: The end to the Ottawa occupation could come quick

There are now around 360 vehicles in downtown Ottawa, down from 4,000 at the peak of the protests

For those who are using their children as human shields, the Ottawa Children’s aid society has plans in place for when their parents are arrested:

The society issued a statement Wednesday urging parents to make alternate care arrangements in case they cannot look after their children following police action. The agency has a mandate to protect young people when parents become unavailable and have not made such arrangements, it noted. If adults and kids become separated as a result of police action, the society will work to reunite families, the statement added.

Vehicles may now be impounded, and driving licenses suspended.

For anyone who thinks of helping out the criminals with food or supplies:

Details of the Emergencies Act were published Tuesday night. Under the act, bringing children to the antigovernment blockades, participating in the protests directly or bringing aid such as food or fuel to those involved could result in a fine of up to $5,000 or five years in prison.

Summary of Canadian opinion polls on the protest.

Bottom line: they do not have popular support.

Yes, the polls were pretty clear:

The Maru poll found:

Sixty-four percent agreed with the statement that “Canada’s democracy is being threatened by a group of protesters and they must be stopped immediately.” Sixty-four percent also supported using the Canadian military in a support role to tow protesters’ trucks.
58% said drivers who refuse to follow law enforcement directives to move should “face fines and potential jail terms of up to two years.”

The one that popped out at me was:

In a survey conducted by Ipsos from February 8 to 9 on behalf of Global News, 59% of respondents agreed with this statement: “The truck protest is mostly a group of anti-vaxxers and bigots intent on causing mayhem and they should not be allowed to protest.”

Which is a pretty definitive statement to get that much consensus on.

Especially as compared to the mamby-pamby:

“Do you think Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made you want to vote for him because of how he has dealt with the situation?”

which got 16% agreement, and was being spun as “only 16% of Canadians said they want Trudeau back as prime minister”.
