Our trip to Egypt

Just got back from two weeks in Egypt to visit my wife’s relatives, and take a Nile Cruise to show the kids the ancient sites. Pix here

Loved the photos, it looks like quite a trip. The Saudi woman sunbathing at the pool is hilarious.

Very nice pics!

What a wonderful trip! The photos are amazing, and you have a lovely family, CwG.

Is there any reason Nora is such a popular girl’s name in your wife’s family? Does it honour someone’s memory?

What a fun trip! And very good photos!

Great pics! I relived a bit of our trip just going through yours as we did a lot of the same things. (Although, taking a flight to Abu Simbel is something we really should have done instead of getting up at an ungodly hour to drive there and back).

It’s a popular name in the Middle East with its own etymology (related to “light”) unrelated to the Irish version (from Leonore, IIRC). There is nobody in particular that all these girls are named after. I think the parents just like the name, and the fact that our daughter was named Nora added to the power of suggestion.

My second trip to Egypt took us to Hurghada, a Red Sea resort. Passing through the hotel pool, I saw a woman dressed like the one in my photo, and then 10 feet away was a (presumably) European woman with only a tiny bikini bottom on. I was struck by the juxtaposition and thought it would make a great photo but figured I would be attacked by one or the other or both

Cool pics. Brought back fond memories of my own trip to Egypt.

Good to see your son rocking his Redskins stuff over there. It always makes the world feel smaller when I see pictures of exotic locales and someone is wearing my favorite teams colors.
