The World is indeed slowly becoming a better place.
The company I work for (large and known the World over) started offering same-sex partner health coverage about a year and a half ago. I think it’s wonderful, and a small sign of progress.
ivylass: The fingernail painting is what prompted someone to ask. I’ve since discovered that several people suspected, but the fingernails was seen as confirmation.
And you may get a confession or two. I’m not sure why, but several times that I’ve come out to hets, they seem to want to tell me some deep dark secret about themselves.
Metallic blue fingernails – are they pretty? What kind of a bottom coat and topcoat are you using? What brand? Do they last? Can we see your nail polish? Oh yes, a stupid question on my part – what does metallic blue nail polish have to do with sexual orientation? Is there something that I’m not aware of?
Also, it’s great that things have gone so well for you so far – may they continue to go smoothly!
I don’t know how serious you were, but here you go:
The brand name is Pure Ice by Bari Cosmetics.
The color is #775 Frosted Ice Celestial.
I just put on two coats without a separate bottom coat.
The paint is fairly tough, but I do have to do some touch up every couple of days. I then strip them on Friday and start fresh sometime over the weekend.
Nail polish has nothing to do with orientation except that very few straight men wear nail polish. I’m somewhat fey, so add in nail polish with the other OGTs, it’s just the final piece of the puzzle.
Comgrats Homebrew. Coming out at work is never easy. At my old job I only came out directly to the coworkers that I was friends with, and who I worked with directly. I wasn’t too concerned if word got around, but I never directly told anybody else. I have a weird hangup about telling people that I am gay. I don’t know why, but unless I know a person fairly well, I really don’t like to mention it one way or another, unless I’m asked directly. I always feel like I’m making a big deal out of something that doesn’t really matter.
Homebrew I lived there from 1983-1986. I lived off of Pleasant Run Road about a mile north of the interstate. I used to hang out at Doc’s, Fat Jacks, and the CW place over near the fairgrounds in Arkansas. Are any of them still there? Gotta tell ya, I liked it there. It was one of the best places I’ve lived.
Well, Homebrew, I’ve recently noticed and have enjoyed your posts. Ever since my ‘Short Man’ thread, where I was an ass to you. (I had read one of his posts way out of context).
I’m happy things are goin good for you at work!!
I don’t know where this woman gets off calling you “weird” because you paint your nails. She probably does it, or has friends that do! The fact that she linked you being gay to your nail painting seems a little ignorant. Why do you have to be gay to do something like that?
BUT, as you claimed in my thread, I can be pretty sensitive. The world’s taking babysteps twards improvment. I think it really shows too, as far as there being no problems for you at work. This shows progress. It’s kickass you got all of it off your chest, and the outcome was good!
If you haven’t been back since '86, it’s changed since you’ve been here – we even have some chain restaurants now, like Applebee’s and Outback Steakhouse now!
Doc’s is gone, but Fat Jack’s lives and what was The Pines Country Club closed for a couple of years but was reborn as The Electric Cowboy. However, Fat Jack’s has burned down and been rebuilt a few times. Everyone suspects that it burns, convientently, whenever Jack can’t get the building permits to expand.
Be careful, Homebrew. Hell hath no fury like a hag scorned. This from the girl who just got back from spending the weekend with my best friend and his boyfriend. We were Pug puppy-sitting for a friend of ours (another queen). The dog came with his own wardrobe. It don’t get much more gayer than that.
Congrats, hon. (for claification, were you the one sneaking The Advocate into the breakroom? If so, how did that go?) As with anything else in life, listen to the Fag Hags and ignore the bigots.
