Dudes, I seriously need some help here. What should we spill, what should we withhold, he needs an answer as to why we’re here. Do I make something up or tell them that we haven’t the foggiest because we don’t even know who we are?
Hey guys, I love the game so far… could I ask if there’s a formal policy on waiting lists or such, when it comes to new players? I’m a graduate student, so my availability is pretty high from now until next summer.
I think the only response that won’t get us in worse trouble is to tell the truth. Tell him that we are travelers who met in a cave a little distance back. That we have no supplies of our own and that we do not know this land or it’s people and that we mean no harm.
Ok, if you think truth is best I’ll go with that. I would tend to agree with you, just wanted to have us all on the same page in case it gets us killed.
Thanks for checking in. I think this is one of those times when lying will just get us into hotter water.
I’mot sure I should say anything as I’m in shock with a busted foot  .
However the evidence is that I’m likely to be a Paladin. Combine this with the fact that any story we make up is likely to fall apart instantly under questioning and I agree that the truth is best.
Pretty much just let me know you want to play. This is my first time running a scenario like this. I’ve done some other Harn stuff in the past, but the format was very different.
For this scenario, a few “guest star” PCs will be needed now and then. But I hope to wrap it up before the end of the month. I don’t want it hanging over me during my vacation.
I did have one idea for a different game – jousting. Get as many PCs as possible to roll up soem knight characters, and have a tourney. Let’s see who will take home the grand prize. I’m not sure how the mechanics of that would go, though.
Alrighty, I think I’ll wait until you run another game then; no sense bringing in a new PC this late into things.
Oh boy! Wait until it starts.
I think this adventure is interesting because we are gradually discovering our abilities and also roleplaying.
Your jousting idea would presumably be all combat - which is good for beginners, or those who love hack-and-slash; but not so much for roleplaying?
A few years ago I tried a PBEM game with about 12 players. The scenario was a sort of intellectual situation that required all sorts of negotiations. It happened to take place when the tourney was going on. Some of the PCs participated in the tourney.
They were generally disinterested in negotiations, but boy howdy did they enjoy the jousting bit. They were totally cheering each other on, as well as role-playing it to the hilt.
Excellent!
Having only played a few message board games here, I think there is much less ‘atmosphere’ than in face-to-face.
I’m an admitted fan of number-heavy strategic games, and I think one potential bit of fun when it comes to the jousting game might be the strategy behind it: if everyone gets to make their own character from scratch, it could be neat to see what different people try to get an edge.
Alright kids, as TDN said here is where we stand.
In relative good health at this point, but facing a ‘what are they going to do with us’ situation. It sounds like letting us live is in the cards.
I would favor an attempt to get some supplies, directions to the nearest human settlement and being sent on our way. We could probably gain some info from them and maybe a decent life…but my character being married wants to go home.
What do you all think?
Good plan, and see if they will give us a guide to help keep us out of trouble too. Koldanar perhaps? I too, need to go home.
I’m having a thought. It would be rather rude of us to just ask them to give us anything. They don’t like strangers anyway. What I propose is that we see if they would allow us to stay with them for a time and put us to work to let us earn room and board, supplies and weapons so that we can go home. As I see it, the services we can offer would primarily be physical labor for three of us, NAF’s healing skills and Santo’s fletching skill. (at least until we discover what else we know)
I would suggest that we ask for supplies and offer to pay for them later, but none of no if we have anything at home to pay for them.
That’s a really good idea. I say run with it.
NAF, it may be useful to understand their language without them knowing it. Not telling you what to do of course, but it could help us out if they don’t know you know what they’re saying. (Of course that doesn’t go with our current ‘be honest’ campaign…) Just something to ponder.
I am sure this is the correct approach.
From their point of view we are a bunch of weird strangers, who stirred up the foulspawn and have no way to pay for the help we obviously need.
Let us make ourselves useful - and see what we can learn about this land.
Help me out guys, I have been busy designing a mafia game for the past couple of days and my brain is fried. What else should I ask these ladies. I sense that this is a good opportunity to learn some good info.
