I’ve been having a major problem with Outlook Express 5.02 for my G3 running on OS 9.2.2. I can send and receive e-mail from my Earthlink account, but I can’t send E-mail from the accounts from my personal websites. I have a website that my friend maintains, and I can receive E-mail on OUtlook, but when I try to send something, it says a connection failure has occurred. This has been going on for over a year. Help me, Straight Dopers!
How are you connected? Are you on a dial-up or a broadband connection supplied by Earthlink?
If so: have you called Earthlink to find out if they will let you send mail from a SMTP Server other than one of their own? (Verizon, my DSL provider, once did and then one day didn’t, no warning).
If once again so: does Outlook let you change the From: header and the Reply-to: header so that your recipients will experience your outbound email as if it came from your website account(s) even though you’re using Earthlink’s SMTP server?
If not: have you considered switching to Eudora?
Holy crap! I can’t believe that worked! Thanks for help, AHunter3:) This has been giving me trouble for over a year now! You rock!!!
